Primary Job Responsibilities

• Provide complex contributions to upstream projects like Knative, Kubernetes, KEDA, Kserve, CloudEvents, BuildPacks, Red Hat OpenShift and help technically mentor other team members

• Work in the upstream community to expand the Knative ecosystem (eg. API design, specifications, controllers, testing)

• Contribute to the Red Hat Operators

• Contribute to the development of design patterns, tooling, and best practice guides for developing serverless components

• Work with other team members on tooling, and processes such as CI/CD and productization

• Interact with globally distributed open source project teams, and communities

• Collaborate with the Product Manager, as well as the Quality Engineering, Program Management, and Documentation teams

• Evangelize upstream projects and Red Hat offerings through conference talks, blog posts, articles etc.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of software development experience

• Advanced programming experience ideally in Go

• Experience with containers and Kubernetes platform development

• Solid understanding of the principles of reliable distributed systems

• Written and verbal English communication skills

• Passion for open source software, positive attitude, and a desire to share ideas openly

• Other tools a candidate should be familiar and comfortable with include: Git, Github/Pull Requests, JIRA, Linux, CI Systems

The following are considered a plus:

• Experience with networking technology like Istio or Envoy is considered

• Experience working on a distributed team with an agile methodology

• Experience with other cloud vendors and technologies, particularly Azure Functions, AWS, or GKE is recommended

What You Will Do:

• Evangelize the value of Red Hat Solutions. Work with the Account Executive and collaborate with the extended team to focus on the best manner to address your customer needs

• Define, document, present, and demonstrate how the Red Hat product portfolio can enable next-generation IT and network architectures for telecommunications providers in the 5G, NFV IoT space.

• Develop cross-industry solutions and architectures with Red Hat and partner products to apply Red Hat technologies and products to build synergy across Industry verticals in IoT, Telecom Managed services, and Cloud and Virtualization technologies for Edge solution architecture and delivery

• Work with the ecosystem to position Red Hat as a key strategic vendor for telecommunications and NFV infrastructures, e.g. ISVS, NEPs, telecommunications, cloud providers, integrators, and hardware vendors

• Deliver expert-level presentations and demonstrations for Red Hat products and solutions in the context of Telco IT operations teams and networks

• Lead the technical responses to RFx processes

• Design value-driven architectures and present their application and return on investment (ROI)

• Contribute to growing and developing the business of the account in all aspects of the relationship, including on the telco network and the IT side, as well as developing the business partnership in place

• Demonstrate and act as a role model of great leadership skills in an open organization, fostering a culture of success and inclusiveness

• Position Red Hat at all levels within the customer, including C-level executives

• Actively contribute to account plans and strategy sessions. Develop technical account plans.

• Maintain and develop new relationships within the assigned account

• Exhibit a high level of initiative with the ability to work independently, while maintaining the team role and being an exceptional team player

• Advanced Computer Science and/or Engineering degree with specialties in cloud, networking/communications, and extensive engagement in open-source communities and industry forums preferred.

• Extensive Telco industry knowledge and market insights, with a good understanding of current, new, and future technologies and business directions

• Solid technical skills in IT technologies used in telcos, such as Virtualization, Cloud, Container Platforms, and Microservices

• Understanding of the existing and new technologies used by the telecommunications industries is required; such as 5G, RAN, IoT, SDN, NFV

What you will do:

• Execute functional, integration, regression, performance and scalability tests using open source tools for OpenShift.

• Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans, test cases, and test reports.

• Design, develop and maintain test automation using Golang and Python, analyze test results and guarantee test efficiency. Implement automation tools as needed.

• Work in a fast paced environment, be goal-oriented. Proactively communicates with multiple stakeholders across teams to implement new ideas and improvements.

• Oversee potential problems and devise mechanisms to solve them timely.

• Actively suggest and implement continuous improvement in the workflow.

What you will bring:

• 3+ years professional experience working as a Software Quality Engineer.

• Experienced in at least one object-oriented programming language

• Experienced in API test automation

• Experienced in Bash.

• Experience in maintaining and resolving issues under Linux.

• Rich experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Familiar with agile testing methodologies and techniques.

• Must be a quick learner.

• Proven written and spoken English skills.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge with OpenShift is a plus.

• Experience with Kubernetes and Containers is a plus

• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2, Google Compute Engine (GCE), or Microsoft Azure
