Your role:

  • Design of electronic modules for PH products, primary for the Grooming & Beauty business.
  • Translate technical requirements into product concepts and electronic designs.
  • Manage product requirements, lead DFMEA’s and follow the v-model methodology.
  • Ensure proper documentation for the developed products and followed processes
  • Design and test the modules or components, to ensure reliable, efficient, and user-friendly products
  • Understand and communicate boundaries of proposed designs and architecture on the electronic product roadmap
  • Draw up personal schedule and report on progress, as well as contribute to the planning process of the hardware and/or other subsystem
  • Depending on team role, keep oversight of the complete appliance development.
  • Contribute to the estimation of the required development effort and run-time resources.


You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor degree or above in electronics hardware engineering, with minimum 5-10 years of working experience in the field of electronics product development;
  • Preferably to have multiple years working experience in developing hardware ( battery charging systems, step down & step up converters, SMPS ) for high volume consumer products and having a thorough understanding of modern hardware engineering tools, methods, processes.
  • Experience with CFD analysis, FEA (Ansys), and/or other analytical software programs;
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and are able to communicate very well with different (international) people;
  • You have a pro-active attitude and high quality mindset towards your assignment;
  • Technically, you are an expert in your area, able to develop own ideas and stand up for their feasibility.

Lead Engineer, Mechanical Development


You are responsible for

  • Design and detail mechanical components and systems according specification, including conducting predictive analysis and calculations.
  • Select materials (metal and plastics) and processes appropriate for those designs.
  • Detail 3D and 2D files incorporating Design for (mass) Manufacturing and Design for Assembly requirements.
  • Manage product requirements, lead DFMEA’s and follow the v-model methodology.
  • Obtain parts and create prototypes.
  • Lead ideations sessions, drive concept creation and decision making.
  • Plan and prioritize your own work and manage the interfaces with other modules/parts – able to work via agile approach.
  • Depending on team role, keep oversight of the complete appliance development.
  • Write test protocols, conduct tests, analyze data, and report results.
  • Successfully interact with associates in other departments, such as Project Management, Systems Engineering, Architecture, Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, Design, and engineering staff to achieve project and product objectives.
  • Develop new test methods and tools as necessary.
  • Identify gaps and implement improvements to bring the mechanical engineering group to a higher level.
  • Capture and re-use of existing knowledge and share learnings.
  • Document your choices and proof in a Design History File (evidence document).
  • Archiving design files in Windchill or relevant system.
  • Be a highly motivated, self-disciplined, open minded, individual possessing hands-on skills.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Master / bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • With minimum 5-10 years of experience in the field of mechanical product development;
  • Experience with working in (international) multi-disciplinary projects, preferably in Business to Consumer.
  • familiar with state-of-the-art development techniques and are skilled in 3D CAD (Siemens NX);
  • Knowledge of the design of mechanical constructions in plastic and/or metal and you are familiar with the mass manufacturability aspects (mould / assembly tooling design);
  • Ability to document requirements, tests, and designs;
  • Ability to rapidly develop engineering concepts and drive them to functional prototypes.
  • Ability to effectively utilize both empirical and theoretical methods to solve complex problems.
  • Experience with CFD analysis, FEA (Ansys), and/or other analytical software programs;
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals on a project team.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to solve problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience in the design and development of medical devices or the medical device industry is a plus
  • Excellent hands-on Engineer and a proactive team player with strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Quality driven. Experience with Design for Six Sigma (i.e. being greenbelt certified) is a plus;
  • Ability to balance innovation and practical realization;
  • Determination in decision making and independence;
  • Ambitious, has leadership skills and is a team player and you have good coordination, communication skills.

You are responsible for

Delivering required product design inputs to all development phases like value proposition creation, advanced development, platform creation and product development. Within the Design team, you can also find yourself working on Design Strategies, Portfolio frameworks and Business specific Design Language Systems. In this context Product Designer responsibilities include:

  • Independently lead projects with good understanding of budget and time constraints, driving efficiency and holding project level design quality reviews.
  • Driving user centered design approach including analysis, exploration, storytelling, concept design, prototyping, evaluative testing and implementation.
  • Creative leading in Grooming & Beauty for product design, driving E2E user experience from both design- and innovation perspective
  • Translate customer needs, research findings and business requirements into compelling, efficient and highly usable designs.

To succeed in this role

You need a consumer first attitude, end-to-end experience mindset and meet the following criteria:

  • You have a Bachelor or Master Degree level in product or product-interaction design.
  • You have 5-10 years’ of relevant experience in one or more relevant business domains and in one or more markets and cultures.
  • You are a ‘T-shaped’ Product Designer with excellent product design skills, a broad interest in Product, UX and user interaction design and curiosity for new technologies.
  • You have good analytical & conceptual skills to increase domain knowledge, create relevant insights leading to meaningful and innovative solutions that appropriately address user-needs.
  • You have worked in multidisciplinary teams and partnered with specialists in digital and communication design in order to develop fully integrated new propositions from start to end.
  • You have experience in leading product design processes from idea all the way to the technical realization.
  • You have experience in designing small or stand-alone electronic devices (preferred) product and service combinations is a plus.
  • You are able to create effective visual languages and understand the meaning and effect of these on the brand, audience, market and culture.
  • You have a professional, ambitious and collaborative mindset.
  • You are continuously aware of current trends through fashion, art, design, and digital related products through market research.
  • You have a strong narrative ability in verbal and written communication.
  • Showing excellent 2D and 3D design skills, including hand and digital sketching and Rhino or Cero.
  • You communicate fluently in Chinese (Mandarin) and have proficient English speaking and writing skills.

  • Operational material planning and Purchase Order management, Places orders with suppliers and monitors the outstanding order.

  • Manage return to suppliers.

  • Master data settings to enable touchless replenishment. Continuous harmonization and improvement of material supply processes ensuring Philips Global Processes execution. Monitor and secure supplier delivery performance.
