The idea candidate is a team player, has footwear product experience and can utilize tools and system to ensure product excellence from concept through manufacturing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, specs, design sketches and/or 3D digital files and link them together as a system approach to identify potential problems and/or challenges and provide complete problem solving/options and solutions
  • Knowledge of lasts, footwear pattern engineering, tooling, material and manufacturing process highly preferred
  • Ability to identify & drive valuable engineering solutions from the conceptual stage all the way to manufacturing

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

This role works on product creation, from brief through commercialization on performance products. You will provide early recommendations and technical expertise to cross-functional teams on product construction techniques, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, sustainability, cost, and engineering solutions (processes, lab testing, MCS, MPS, etc.). You'll focus on product excellence that ultimately drives and supports product performance, quality, craftsmanship, and efficiency.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing samples and Tech Packs (Physical and Digital-Technical Drawings and 3D files) on each development gate from development through commercialization and manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting issues in development and production, as raised by wear testing, PI, etc.
  • Establish, implement and document new standards
  • Support costing initiatives throughout development
  • Lead cross-category initiatives and leverage dimension, functional, and technical knowledge to influence the product and process of developing and manufacturing footwear.

As a Lead Test Engineer in the Material and Mechanical Lab (M&M Lab), you will work with various partner groups including Footwear product creation, innovation, and global teams to support testing of Nike Footwear products. You will be working with internal and external partners for implementing testing procedures on a global scale, ensuring methods can be consistently implemented. You will be working closely with a team of engineers and lab staff to enable data-driven decision making through expertise, agility, connectivity, and bringing forth advanced solutions.

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, materials science, product design, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.

· A minimum 6 years of directly relevant work experience.

· Engineering or Technical Degree or equivalent/related work experience.

· In-depth understanding and hands-on experience in footwear materials and performance testing is required.

· Knowledge of footwear water protection testing required.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong data presentation and reporting skills, with an ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audience required.

· Previous experience with Instron testing software and the Microsoft Office suite is required.

· Experience of biomechanics and the application of statistical design of experiments (DOE) is preferred.
