Material Handling Associate Level 1

Brimley Distribution Centre: 260 Brimley Rd, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada M1M 3H8

Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will be working with a diverse group of operations associates focused on different Shipping functions. You will also be connecting regularly with internal customers inside both Outbound Processing and Planning Departments.

Individuals with warehousing knowledge, capable of handling pallet loading and trailer loading functionalities. Individuals will also need to be well organized and good with number-based sortation systems and processes. Ability to work in collaborative groups and workspaces throughout the day will be necessary for success. Knowledge of computers/tech, and portable RF systems are requirements throughout each shift. Specific focuses on:

  • Customer-based specifics and needs.
  • Accuracy of orders and timely completion of repeated tasks.
  • Strict adherence to all Nike Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Continuous use of reporting tools and Microsoft Office based functionalities (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to lift between 10-50 pounds repeatedly, standing continuously.
  • Use of appropriate tools (knives, tape, pump truck, etc.)
  • Combination of powered and manual conveyance used to transport all product at certain points of the process.
  • Proper construction and securing of corrugate boxes to protect customer goods.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will focus on a daily process determined by customer demand. All activity will be carton-based curation of loads for unique, changing customers on a day-to-day basis.

  • Shared duties amongst team members with cross-collaboration to ensure 100% accuracy of all orders directly loaded onto trailers.
  • Understanding the makeup of each customer and their specific requirements. Unique pallet heights, wrapping techniques, Pallet organization and timely demands for quick turnaround.
  • You will be involved in fast-paced, quick decisions throughout your day. Attention to detail and execution of your own skillset will prove to be vitally important and beneficial to your success.

As a Distribution Planner, you will leverage reporting and tools to plan the work that will be executed by the DC Operations team. From end-to-end, Planners are responsible for choosing which containers should be received inbound, which customer PO’s should be processed and which trucks should be loaded outbound. You’ll work closely with partners in DC Operations to generate plans that align to their operating capacities and to problem-solve issues as they arise.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

This role is responsible for planning the movement of goods inbound, through and out of the Brimley Distribution Center in the most efficient manner possible. Some tasks completed within a typical day would be:

- Developing robust plans of action for DC Operations

- Monitoring reporting to ensure issues are being resolved and plans are progressing accordingly

- Tracking progress against monthly targets to align with daily and hourly tasks

- Communicating with internal & external partners to problem-solve in the moment

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You’ll report directly to the Planning Coach within the Distribution Operations team at the Brimley Distribution Centre in Scarborough. You’ll work cross-functionally with internal partners in DC Operations & Marketplace Supply Chain. Externally, you will work with various transportation partners, Nike stores & wholesale customers.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Supply Chain functions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word is required
  • Prior experience using SAP and/or Manhattan WMOS is an asset but not mandatory
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, multi-task, problem solve and meet deadlines is critical
  • Comfortable communicating with others and can articulate deliverables clearly

The Flow Co-ordinator is responsible for coordinating operational departments in order to help ensure a consistent workflow without interruptions. Additionally, the co-ordinator will inspire, challenge, and coach the team to follow established policies, create new ones when needed, and address exceptions and opportunities. The goal is to ensure smooth operations, effective collaboration between departments, and continuous improvement to meet business goals.

  • Warehouse Flow Management : Request and manage waves, determine wave size, influence the movement of headcount, and monitor waves for clean-up
  • Reporting : Provide hourly updates, understand monthly throughput capacity, plan weekly targets, forecast headcount, and track daily metrics in conjunction with Operations Management
  • Shift Management : Track progress hourly, assist in headcount adjustment, plan and process open waves, reconcile cartons, close waves, and address roadblocks
  • Problem-Solving : Gather and record issues, maintain a problem log, generate end-of-shift reports, and conduct handoff meetings

    • Coordination with grantees from other SCI led portfolios focused on getting kids active, inclusive community and employee engagement;

    • Implement and manage an integrated approach to community development that connects back through a corporate responsibility lens, including investment and ongoing partner strategies that focuses on highest impact efforts while effectively responding to the immediate needs of partners internally and externally;

    • Manage day to day relationships and SCI collaboration and integration opportunities with a cross-functional team in the Toronto office including but not limited to Brand marketing, city-based employee networks, and employee engagement moments.

    • Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals at the global, geography and city levels.

A typical day/week will include performing work in support of a portfolio of community investments, including the following activities.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of relevant, professional experience, education and training.

  • A minimum of 4 years of professional, relevant experience in corporate social responsibility/social sustainability and/or community development.

  • Partner and/or portfolio management experience across a few of the following sectors: youth sport, NGO, government, education, sport/physical activity, and youth development.

  • Experience with project management, managing daily activities and delivering results in a cross-functional environment.
