Chemical Technician (WDA) 2 Year Contract

  • This is part of the WDA programme – the contract will be 2 years in duration

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor the chemical processes assigned:

Each of these processes may comprise the following activities:

  • Participate in an appropriate hand-over of the process(es) on which he / she is working.
  • Obtain, follow and complete process related documentation. Check prior shifts' documentation for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Clean vessels and lines prior to and following batches as required.
  • Conduct all required pre-batch checks.
  • Charge vessels with solids or liquids as directed in procedures.
  • Conduct post-charge verification checks and take any necessary corrective action.
  • Adjust and monitor (using all information available, including automation input/outputs and personal inspection) process conditions as required.
  • Carry out routine sampling, testing some samples as necessary.
  • Transfer process streams to other units in coordination with other staff.
  • Monitor process; both with Distributed Control System (DCS) and manually observing temperature, pressure, flow, PH, volume, colour, salt content, moisture content and adjusting the parameters accordingly.
  • Perform Batch / Offloading operations.
  • Operate general facility service equipment such as vacuum pumps, water systems, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) scrubbers.
  • Record all operational and analytical data on the appropriate documents and inform the Shift Production Lead of any process abnormalities.
  • Put on appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment for the process and the processing area.
  • Maintain material segregation and label appropriately and accurately all containers, bags and vessels.
  • Carry out routine checks and scheduled cleaning procedures, for both process and facilities as required.
  • Obtain and verify materials necessary for processing, monitor materials stock and notify Shift Production Lead as necessary in the event of a material or supply abnormality.
  • Notify Shift Production Lead of requirement for maintenance. Prepare equipment before maintenance work e.g. depressurizing, cleaning of lines and equipment, de-energizing etc.
  • Conduct on-the-job training of other Chemical Technicians.
  • Perform material handling duties including forklift/reach-truck operation driving.
  • Carry out assignments for alternate or simultaneous processes as directed.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for the Emergency Response Team.
  • Attend meetings and training events as required.
  • Maintain all qualifications and development milestones as necessary for duties.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

To be successful in this role, you will have:


• Higher NITEC or Diploma in Engineering(Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or Science, or equivalent operations experience.

• Good stewardship awareness (including cGMP, regulatory inspection preparation, SHE)

• Good knowledge in applicable regulations and divisional policies/guidelines (especially cleaning/housekeeping/maintenance, environmental control, process/cleaning/equipment validation, change control and manufacturing practices).

• Demonstrate Ethics & Integrity & Result Driven

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Routine Operation

  • Setup and operate pharmaceutical production equipment including high-speed filling lines for sterile injectables, robotic technology, compounding panels and automatic CIP/SIP.
  • Dispense, formulate and fill active biological product batches as required to meet the production schedule.
  • Perform routine QC sampling and in-process testing of the product at various stages throughout manufacturing i.e bioburden sampling, water sampling
  • Microbial sampling and swabbing of room and equipment.
  • Perform cleaning and upkeep of the Grade C & D cleanrooms and production equipment.
  • Perform filter integrity testing using an automatic filter integrity test unit.
  • Preparation of equipment including loading and starting of sterilisation cycles in autoclaves.
  • Complete batch documentation as required.
  • Perform in-process sampling on semi-finished drug products
  • Perform visual inspection, labeling and packaging on semi-finished drug products
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with the standard operating procedures and maintain strict compliance to GMP at all times.

Event, Atypical Investigations

  • Report QN/deviations if any.
  • Participate in SHE, Business Compliance, cGMP and compliance matters, where applicable.
  • Responsible to escalate Operations issues to Lead Tech or Shift Manager when required

Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible to participant in Kaizen events in pharm operations in accordance with Kaizen plans when assigned

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Diploma or Technical School graduate with background in operations and maintenance or any relevant studies
  • Must be willing to work in 24x7 rotating shift pattern
  • Min 2 years of working experience preferably in manufacturing industry preferred
  • Good understanding of safety procedures/practices.

Job Purpose

  • Carries out Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) improvement initiatives (i.e., audits, training, etc) and submit recommendation
  • Performs job assignments by Supervisor pertaining to equipment or system or documentation or housekeeping
  • Performs corrective and preventive maintenance for the MEI systems and facilities to ensure efficient running of equipment (e.g. checking line components, servicing of sensors, lubrication of bearings, servicing of dryer)
  • Performs calibrations and preventive maintenance on all types of industrial instruments for temperature, pressure, level, flow, RH and analyzers (e.g. Sensors, indicators, recorders, transmitters, transducers, control valves, annunciators, pH and conductivity meters)
  • Executes CMMS Work Instruction from process plants (e.g. Isolation and Reconnection of electrical supply, leakages, replace faulty part, troubleshoot/repair any E/I or mechanical faults)
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of the PLC, BMS, EMS and FAS systems
  • Ability to perform machining and fabrication activities
  • Participate in SHE, Business Compliance, cGMP and all other compliance-related matters, where applicable
  • Supervise and oversee Third Party Contractors, where applicable
  • Any other tasks as and when assigned by Supervisors

Qualification:

  • Diploma / ITC/ NTC in Mechanical, Mechantronics, Electrical or Instrumentation & Control Engineering

Experience:

  • 5 years experience in maintenance or related fields;
  • Work experience in the pharmaceutical (preferred) or chemical or semiconductor industry
  • PUB electrician license will be an advantage
  • Fitting and welding skills will be an added advantage

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor the chemical processes assigned:

Each of these processes may comprise the following activities:

  • Participate in an appropriate hand-over of the process(es) on which he / she is working.
  • Obtain, follow and complete process related documentation. Check prior shifts' documentation for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Clean vessels and lines prior to and following batches as required.
  • Conduct all required pre-batch checks.
  • Charge vessels with solids or liquids as directed in procedures.
  • Conduct post-charge verification checks and take any necessary corrective action.
  • Adjust and monitor (using all information available, including automation input/outputs and personal inspection) process conditions as required.
  • Carry out routine sampling, testing some samples as necessary.
  • Transfer process streams to other units in coordination with other staff.
  • Monitor process; both with Distributed Control System (DCS) and manually observing temperature, pressure, flow, PH, volume, colour, salt content, moisture content and adjusting the parameters accordingly.
  • Perform Batch / Offloading operations.
  • Operate general facility service equipment such as vacuum pumps, water systems, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) scrubbers.
  • Record all operational and analytical data on the appropriate documents and inform the Shift Production Lead of any process abnormalities.
  • Put on appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment for the process and the processing area.
  • Maintain material segregation and label appropriately and accurately all containers, bags and vessels.
  • Carry out routine checks and scheduled cleaning procedures, for both process and facilities as required.
  • Obtain and verify materials necessary for processing, monitor materials stock and notify Shift Production Lead as necessary in the event of a material or supply abnormality.
  • Notify Shift Production Lead of requirement for maintenance. Prepare equipment before maintenance work e.g. depressurizing, cleaning of lines and equipment, de-energizing etc.
  • Conduct on-the-job training of other Chemical Technicians.
  • Perform material handling duties including forklift/reach-truck operation driving.
  • Carry out assignments for alternate or simultaneous processes as directed.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for the Emergency Response Team.
  • Attend meetings and training events as required.
  • Maintain all qualifications and development milestones as necessary for duties.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

To be successful in this role, you will have:


• Higher NITEC or Diploma in Engineering(Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or Science, or equivalent operations experience.

• Good stewardship awareness (including cGMP, regulatory inspection preparation, SHE)

• Good knowledge in applicable regulations and divisional policies/guidelines (especially cleaning/housekeeping/maintenance, environmental control, process/cleaning/equipment validation, change control and manufacturing practices).
