Group/Division

The Customer Engagement (CE) team is our field based, customer facing organization consisting of Technical Engagement Managers and Application Engineers. The team partners closely with our customers to provide a comprehensive portfolio of products, software, and expertise, to help customers manage yield throughout their fabrication process—from research and development to final volume production. Responsibilities of this group include maintaining strategic client relationships, partnering with our sales team in identifying and closing sales opportunities, ensuring our products meet performance capabilities & expectations, providing critical solutions for improved yield performance, and collecting requirements for future products by understanding customer processes and technology trends. Partnering with our sales organization and factory divisions, this diverse and dynamic team helps ensure alignment between customer needs and product offerings to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.
The Field Applications Engineer will be responsible for providing technical applications support on KLA eBeam inspection and review products at customer sites with the goal of achieving product adoption. Technical requirements and use cases vary customer to customer making the job challenging, interesting and rewarding.

Responsibilities and skillsets required are:

Developing new applications, use cases and best-known methods for increasing value of KLA products for customers.
Must have analytical and complex problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and driven to make a positive impact.
Must be a strong team player, job responsibilities will include working with cross-functional teams to shape roadmap, Beta and eval closures.
Must have excellent written and communication skills including delivering technical presentations with clarity.
Experience in semiconductor fabrication industry and semiconductor processing is desirable.
Knowledge of SEM, eDX and machine learning concepts is desirable. Candidate must be willing to travel (~85%) within Japan.

Must be fluent speaking & writing in Japanese.

English. TOIEC score >700 or equivalent.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The Field Support Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of post-sales services and support to customers. Leads all aspects of service and customer support operations. Analyzes operational processes, escalation procedures and performs training needs assessments for finding opportunities for service delivery improvements and value add to the customer. Liaises between customers and manufacturing, sales, field service, order processing and accounting to resolve status, production, delivery and billing inquiries. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree (Science or Engineering) or BS (Science or Engineering) with 1-3 years' experience.

  • Business level language skill of Japanese and English is must.
  • Understands engineering principles and techniques related to semiconductorfabrication. Workingknowledge of major system components and their interactions. Possesses generalist knowledge of technical areas covered by the department.
  • Good working knowledge of testing techniques and statistical data analysis
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic customer issues.
  • Strong technical communication skills especially technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Semiconductor Fabrication especially in process side.
  • Previous experience in customer facing roles
