As an Assistant Vice President attorney within our Commercial and Investment Bank (CIB) Legal team, you will be responsible for providing legal advice to the internal functions and lines of business operated by JPMC across the European Economic Area and EMEA region more generally. You will report to the Frankfurt-based lawyer in CIB Legal who, together with their team, is responsible for advising the Securities Services and Payments businesses.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and transactional support to the Securities Services (including Custody and Depositary Services ) and Payments (including Treasury Services and Trade) businesses, in coordination with the global Practice Groups;
  • Provide legal advice to the J.P. Morgan legal entities that are active in Germany on their own legal matters as part of the Corporate Legal Practice Group;
  • Assist in the development of policies, procedures and standard forms;
  • Liaise with and assist outside counsel, as necessary, in legal matters related to these coverage areas;
  • Advise on legal and regulatory developments;
  • Support select special projects (long-term and short-term).

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • German-qualified lawyer with previous working experience on financial services, transactional or litigation matters in a major law firm, large multi-national corporation or equivalent;
  • Familiarity with the legal and regulatory frameworks governing large financial institution products, services, and transactions in the substantive coverage areas;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to develop and maintain solid relationships with internal and external clients;
  • Confidence and experience translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions;
  • Creative solution and problem-solving skills;
  • Spoken and written fluency in German and English is incremental.
