Description:

Under the mentorship of experienced Lab Technicians, your responsibilities and learning objectives will be:

  • Develop product test systems and perform validation testing supporting the Engineering Test Lab and Product Engineering Teams in the development, testing, and/or modification of prototype or production parts.

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform validation testing (using internal and external resources).

  • Typical tests include but not limited to durability, temperature cycling, vibration, and NVH

  • Construct test harnesses and circuits for product. Develop and set up fixturing.

  • Mount, instrument and connect parts for testing. Develop and program test control and data acquisition systems.

  • Collect, summarize, and analyze data. Create test reports (including creating and enhancing report formats) and other technical documents as needed

  • Determine test requirements from specifications and product applications, develop and execute test accordingly.

  • Build and test prototype electromechanical and electronic products as specified inschematics/blueprints.


Requirements:

  • Enrolled or will be enrolled in the related instruction courses required with Schoolcraft College and/or Henry Ford Community College

  • Eligible to work in the United States

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Successfully pass a Background Check and Drug Screen

  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs

  • Ability to stand for 70% of the workday

As our next Senior Laboratory Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of developing product test systems and performing validation testing to support the Engineering Test Lab and Product Engineering Teams. Your expertise in test systems, specific test methodologies, and product knowledge will be crucial in driving our success and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Building and testing prototype electromechanical and electronic products as specified inschematics/blueprints.
  • Planning, coordinating, and performing validation testing using internal and external resources.
  • Mentoring lab technicians in methods and procedures.
  • Collecting, summarizing, and analyzing data, and creating test reports and other technical documents.
  • Developing and setting up fixturing, constructing test harnesses and circuits for product tests.
  • Developing and programming test control and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensuring that samples are tested to required standards and specifications, including both R&D and validation testing, analysis, and reporting.
  • Participating actively in Continuous Improvement and Safety teams.
  • Following proper housekeeping (6S), Lean manufacturing, and TS 16949 practices as directed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field, or equivalent. BS preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a test laboratory environment, including the use of electronic instruments (meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, data acquisition units, etc.) and dimensional measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.).
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude.
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint applications.
  • Ability to multitask and conduct tasks in parallel.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with test systems and provide resolutions.
  • Ability to present technical information to customer engineering.
