to support the delivery of multiple regional utility construction projects.As Senior Construction Manager, you will manage the delivery of the construction phase of assigned water and wastewater projects on behalf of Jacobs clients; conduct constructability reviews for ongoing designs; lead a team of construction management staff on assigned projects; or serve as the Owner’s Representative for assigned heavy civil water and wastewater construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be reviewing and enforcing construction contract documents, schedules, and budgets on behalf of the Owner and to facilitate the coordination of construction activities with all project stakeholders. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for the client, chair necessary pre-construction, progress, and coordination meetings, and submit progress reports to the client on an as needed basis.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop Construction Management Procedures Manuals in close coordination with the Jacobs Project Manager and the Owner to establish consistent practices across the entire program.
  • Represent Jacobs to clients in a positive, relationship-oriented, solutions-delivery approach by leveraging the broader firm.
  • Identify resource shortfalls on assigned projects, bring them to the Project Manager’s attention, and contribute to developing solutions to address client needs and successfully deliver projects.
  • Advocate on the client's behalf by actively engaging the firm to address evolving client needs.
  • Manage project team’s workload to ensure adequate site coverage necessary to protect client interests.
  • Review and file construction inspection team’s daily reports.
  • Develop and implement document control workflow and record keeping practices required to maintain project schedule/progress.
  • Review third party construction progress reports on behalf of the client to confirm accuracy and proactively identify schedule risks and activities that require advanced coordination or additional resources to support and maintain construction progress.
  • Oversee maintenance of CM redline set of drawings reflecting all field changes to date.
  • Administer recurring construction progress meetings and coordination meetings on an as needed basis.
  • Draft and submit construction progress reports for the client as requested.

The Jacobs team is seeking a creative, highly motivated Senior Bridge Project Leader to lead and support the delivery of local and regional projects. Our Virginia and District of Columbia transportation practice encompasses world-class professionals located in multiple offices including Washington DC, Herndon, Arlington, Richmond and Virginia Beach. We are seeking to hire a Senior Bridge Project Leader with a proven track record of delivering projects for our top DC and Virginia transportation clients such as VDOT, DDOT and local county and city governments. As a key member of our team, you’ll have the chance to work on challenging projects as the Project Leader/Task Manager for bridge, highway and roadway projects – planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of projects with high degrees of technical complexity from the concept stage through detailed design. You will be a Project Manager on large transportation projects throughout the DC and Virginia geography and will have the opportunity to provide senior transportation engineering expertise, negotiate hours, develop and maintain schedules and budgets, direct and mentor project staff, and ensure quality reviews are completed. You will assist in managing external client relationships as well as lead and participate in business development initiatives as required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides technical leadership and oversee all aspects of bridge and highway design projects including design-build transportation projects and assist with business development opportunities.

• Have overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project.

• Be responsible for communication, status reporting, decision making regarding technical approaches, risk management, and escalation of issues that cannot be resolved by the team.

• Lead the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and organization of internal technical and support staff, and subcontractors for the project.

• Focus on client service and satisfaction that leads to repeat business.

• Maintain a close relationship with clients, track upcoming project opportunities, and collaborate on project pursuits.

• Responsible for the quality of project work performed, client service, utilization of staff, marketing, contract management, billing collection, and project profitability for transportation projects.

• Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of transportation projects to ensure that goals and objectives of these projects are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

• Assists in the development and execution of local marketing and business development, researches and tracks future project opportunities, initiates and reviews proposals and participates in interviews and presentations.

• Represents Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings relative to assigned projects.

Motivated and experienced Road Design Engineers who can utilise their strong technical and project management skills to deliver highways-related infrastructure projects.

KEY COMPETENCY – Technical Skills

  • Understanding of engineering standards (DMRB/AASHTO/Australian/Middle East), codes of practice, local authorities’ guidelines and offer new ideas to improve solutions and processes.
  • Lead Functional teams or Projects.
  • Able to author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality.
  • Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices.
  • Develop broad technical competence and able to check work of all those in the project team.

KEY COMPETENCY – Soft Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of proven highway design experience with software proficiency in Open Roads Designer or Civil3D.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or MicroStation, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Auto Track, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of CDE platform (Common Data Environment) i.e., ProjectWise, ACC or BIM360.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical competence in detailed highways geometry design using Civil 3D/Open Road Designer and able to independently deliver work and integrate with larger project team.
  • Responsible to lead the multi-disciplinary project delivery and able to perform as design manager.
  • Clear knowledge of work procedures, and ability to brief project team on them and responsible for completion of projects to time and cost.
  • Assists in the leadership of functional teams or projects.
  • Communicating with counterpart in lead office/Client and Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams on project delivery.
  • Able to realistically estimate pricing associated with projects within their area of expertise.
  • Self-discipline and able to manage own daily work allocation as well as team members
