Your impact

In this role, you’ll be:

• Responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of design on large complex alternative delivery projects to include Design-Build and PPP projects.

• Effectively maintain diverse relationships with the Contractor, Owner Representatives, and any number of project stakeholders and influencers.

• Responsible for the Planning, direction, coordination of multi-discipline staff in a high intensity environment, often including multi-office execution.

• Works directly with project controls and scheduling staff to manage the project, analyze Earned Value and Schedule performance, and effectively work with various team interfaces to ensure that goals or objectives of these projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

• Responsible for the overall quality and coordination of the work performed, client interface, utilization of staff, reputation and reflection of the Team and Jacobs, contract management, billing collection, and control of project profitability

• Establishes work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.

• Directs and coordinates activities of Project Engineers, Engineers, and Technicians to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.

• Participates in interviews and presentations as applicable for support and growth of the Design-Build Practice Nationally.

• Maintains positive relationships with current and past clients as assigned.

• Serves as a representative of Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.

• Develops, reviews and obtains confirmation of financial and project delivery schedule activities of design and construction as they relate to all disciplines involved.

• Identifies causes for revisions to projects and whether such changes are billable to the client.

• Assures that project team complies with the contract agreement as well as exercises rigid cost control to implement the approved design within established budget restraints.

• Responsible for the leadership, interpretation, organization, execution and coordination of project assignments and managing projects that are larger in scope and complexity

• Assist Group Manager in the development of new business, marketing to potential and existing clients

• Work within other subgroups and may interact with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, other consultants, and professional organizations

• Work will involve attending meetings, making presentations, and responding to questions

• Work closely with other staff in other departments which may not be within the same office

• Other duties as assigned

You will work alongside our team of engineers and designers performing field investigations, interfacing with clients & vendors, sizing and selecting equipment, and preparing construction design packages.

You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll work with a multi-discipline, highly interactive team to establish a process design basis, develop an optimized process, create calculations, and generate process drawings. Your role keeps our company connected, and we’ll support you with what you need to be successful.

Highlights of your contributions will include:

  • Layout and design of HVAC systems for various types of clients, including electric vehicles, data centers, and heavy industrial facilities.
  • Development of the design criteria for the HVAC systems. These HVAC systems would include general comfort heating and cooling, those with accurate temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements, and/or cleanliness requirements for clean room applications.
  • Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents, which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangements.
  • Layout of Ductwork systems based on a Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID).
  • Development of final design documents including specification, sequences of operation, piping layout, and final construction documents associated with these systems. These systems would include chilled water, cooling water, etc.
  • Coordination with other disciplines.

Engineer (Campus Area Network/Local Area Network (CAN/LAN))to support our government customer’s global enterprise networks. The CAN/LAN service network architecture provides solutions for modernizing network components while supporting service delivery for customer requirements in a mission-focused operational enterprise. Our team is completely replacing a global enterprise network while providing design, engineering, and transition for a wide range of customer network requirements. This is a unique and rare opportunity to build and transition critical operations to a modern service provider network architecture.

The job duties of the
Network Engineer (CAN/LAN)are as follows:

  • Interpret customer requirements and apply standard design approaches for service delivery. Fully document designs with diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and other supporting documents.
  • Use our private test lab to evaluate new technologies and capabilities, test proposed changes to production networks, and recreate troubleshooting scenarios to support the production enterprise network.
  • Schedule maintenance windows for migrating user connections from legacy to the modern infrastructure transition services with little to no impact on critical data flows.
  • Provide technical expertise to Operations engineers and technicians, supporting fault isolation and resolution. Solve tough problems with innovative and scalable solutions.
  • Develop secure network designs including configurations that align with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies. Obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and capabilities.
  • Supervise (not manage) other network support specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement network services.
  • Develop and improve design products, processes, and systems for our team to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Although this position is focused on CAN/LAN, this opportunity offers the ability to learn and work on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).

The candidate must have 16 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a doctorate and 8 years of experience, OR a master’s and 10 years, a bachelor’s and 12 years, an associates and 14 years, or HS and 16 years. Required qualifications include the following:

  • Must be compliant with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE)
  • Experience specific to network engineering to include Tier III or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation.
  • Prior responsibility for production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production network, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
  • Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production network, such as Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels.
