Your impact

We’re seeking mid-level design engineers with experience in sediment remediation design for federal and global private sector clients.

Based anywhere in the United States (preference towards the West or Midwest), you’ll work with other scientists, engineers, subject matter experts, and project managers on exciting projects nationwide. You’ll apply your technical experience in design related to sediment environmental remediation with the support of our global remediation technology team. Your analytical skills will be called upon as you evaluate site conditions, determine data needs, assess remedial alternatives, perform engineering calculations, and develop designs. You’ll use your technical writing skills to prepare work plans, reports, and design documents, including design specifications. You’ll learn from other experienced staff who are ready to mentor you, and you’ll pass your knowledge on to others. As a mid-level Engineer, you’ll be directed by Design Managers and discipline leads, but you will be called on to take ownership of assigned tasks. Most of your work will be office-based, but you may spend some time in the field supporting or overseeing the gathering of design data. Safety will be your priority, as you contribute to operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance in everything you do.

Your impact

When you join us as a Senior Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to provide senior transportation engineering expertise. You’ll be responsible for the quality of project work performed, client service, utilization of staff, scope and fee development, negotiate hours, contract management, billing collection, and project profitability for transportation and infrastructure projects.

When you join Jacobs as a key member of the team, we’ll look to you to maintain a positive relationship with current clients and assist in business development and execution of local marketing. You will also be responsible for researching and tracking future project opportunities with the Client Account Manager. Additionally, you’ll initiate and review proposals and participate in interviews and presentations.

• Selling the services of Jacobs as a Senior Project/Program Manager or Senior Project Executive. Ideal candidate should have client and consultant relationships and experience / expertise in Illinois and be able to sell primarily Phase 1 and Phase 2 services based on recent experience.

• Providing strategic business development leadership, working closely with Jacobs Client Account Managers, Client Service Leaders, and Sales Operations teams in pursuit of major transportation opportunities in the area. This is accomplished by advancing long-term existing relationships with transportation clients at the state, city and county levels, leading the development of execution strategies, supporting proposal and presentation preparation activities and, developing and applying lessons learned during contract execution. This also includes supporting the development and periodic update of client account plans for work in this arena.

• Have overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project . Lead the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and organization of internal technical and support staff, and subcontractors for the project.

• Providing expertise in developing concepts for programs and design approaches for major phases of large highway infrastructure projects, including Design-Build and Public-Private Partnerships. Extensive participation in internal team meetings/workshops and client workshops is anticipated.

• Coordination with all complimentary disciplines (roadway, drainage, structural, traffic, public involvement and environmental), technical preparation and supervision of roadway and planning design tasks, perform plan quality reviews, participate in value engineering studies.

• Represents Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings relative to assigned projects. Actively participating in transportation and other professional associations and transportation industry events such as ACEC, WTS, ASCE, TRB, AASHTO, etc. to establish, improve, and maintain a business network beneficial for personal development, to advance client knowledge and relationships, and to help identify future prospects.

In this Cost Engineering Lead role, you will:

✅ Ensure Compliance and Functional Direction: Adhere to Programme Controls Policy, Strategy, and Plan, while providing direction for Cost Engineering and aligning with other PMO functions

✅ Manage and Control Costs: Develop and improve Cost Management systems, ensuring accurate cost control, change and baseline management, and robust forecasting

✅ Implement Earned Value Management (EVM): Establish performance measurement of projects using EVM and similar techniques, providing data-driven insights into performance

✅ Drive Risk and Change Management: Align risk and cost processes to support forecasts, and proactively support the identification and management of risk and change

✅ Collaborate and Coordinate: Work with Cost Engineers and Control Account Managers to standardize and ensure consistency of Cost Management processes, supporting other Programme Controls functions as required

✅ Manage Reporting and Interfaces: Ensure the reported cost position is accurate and reconcilable, managing the cost interface with other functional leads and supporting monthly Board Reporting data on cost-related matters
