Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize data architectures that support AI and Machine Learning workflows

We’re seeking mid-level design engineers with experience in sediment remediation design for federal and global private sector clients.

Based anywhere in the United States (preference towards the West or Midwest), you’ll work with other scientists, engineers, subject matter experts, and project managers on exciting projects nationwide. You’ll apply your technical experience in design related to sediment environmental remediation with the support of our global remediation technology team. Your analytical skills will be called upon as you evaluate site conditions, determine data needs, assess remedial alternatives, perform engineering calculations, and develop designs. You’ll use your technical writing skills to prepare work plans, reports, and design documents, including design specifications. You’ll learn from other experienced staff who are ready to mentor you, and you’ll pass your knowledge on to others. As a mid-level Engineer, you’ll be directed by Design Managers and discipline leads, but you will be called on to take ownership of assigned tasks. Most of your work will be office-based, but you may spend some time in the field supporting or overseeing the gathering of design data. Also, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of projects that meet local (State, County or City) and DOT/AASHTO standards. When you join us as a Senior Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to provide senior transportation engineering expertise. You’ll be responsible for the quality of project work performed, client service, utilization of staff, scope and fee development, negotiate hours, contract management, billing collection, and project profitability for transportation and infrastructure projects.

Additionally, you’ll initiate and review proposals and participate in interviews and presentations.

• Selling the services of Jacobs as a Senior Project/Program Manager or Senior Project Executive. Ideal candidate should have client and consultant relationships and experience / expertise in Illinois and be able to sell primarily Phase 1 and Phase 2 services based on recent experience.

• Providing strategic business development leadership, working closely with Jacobs Client Account Managers, Client Service Leaders, and Sales Operations teams in pursuit of major transportation opportunities in the area. This is accomplished by advancing long-term existing relationships with transportation clients at the state, city and county levels, leading the development of execution strategies, supporting proposal and presentation preparation activities and, developing and applying lessons learned during contract execution. This also includes supporting the development and periodic update of client account plans for work in this arena.

• Have overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project . Lead the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and organization of internal technical and support staff, and subcontractors for the project.

• Providing expertise in developing concepts for programs and design approaches for major phases of large highway infrastructure projects, including Design-Build and Public-Private Partnerships. Extensive participation in internal team meetings/workshops and client workshops is anticipated.

• Coordination with all complimentary disciplines (roadway, drainage, structural, traffic, public involvement and environmental), technical preparation and supervision of roadway and planning design tasks, perform plan quality reviews, participate in value engineering studies.

• Represents Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings relative to assigned projects. Actively participating in transportation and other professional associations and transportation industry events such as ACEC, WTS, ASCE, TRB, AASHTO, etc. to establish, improve, and maintain a business network beneficial for personal development, to advance client knowledge and relationships, and to help identify future prospects.

The employee will work alongside our local team and support senior level engineers and project managers to perform the following tasks:

• Assist senior and mid-level engineers on larger, complex projects, including task management.
• Participate in and lead tasks.
• Perform a wide variety of routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Independently evaluate the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria, and systems to efficiently meet project goals.
• Prepare planning documents, reports, studies, and calculations.
• Prepare models, engineering specifications, data sheets, sketches, drawings and perform calculations in support of engineering activities.
• Possess a positive attitude, are dependable and meet assigned project deadlines.
• Effectively work with project teams with diverse technical skill sets and geographic locations.
• Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and work in a fast-paced consulting environment.
