You’ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of assigned routine engineering tasks. As you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget and schedule for assigned tasks, you’ll effectively recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly. You’ll coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. You may have supervision of less experienced engineering and design staff. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team may produce single-line diagrams depicting electrical power systems 208Y/120V through 480V, installation details, electric room layouts, tool installation connection diagrams, cable tray layouts, cable schedules, power plans, lighting plans, breaker coordination studies, and Arc Flash / Short-Circuit Current studies. You will support senior engineers in selection and specification of electrical equipment. You may also be asked to provide on-site assistance during startups.

As an Electrical Designer, you will be working at a leading state of art manufacturing plant in
Boise, Idaho. You will be instrumental in expanding and optimizing facility operations to meet growing production needs. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate closely with engineers, project coordinators, and construction trades. Your work will help translate innovative ideas into tangible designs, driving the operational excellence of the plant. Engaging in on-site work is a pivotal part of this role, where you’ll be tasked with assessing existing field conditions and spearheading the implementation of new designs and systems. You’ll leverage tools like AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks to create detailed 2D/3D drawing packages that bring our visions to life. As an Electrical Designer, you will:

• Conduct regular site visits to verify existing field conditions and to ensure the alignment of the design implementation process with the project’s Basis of Design (BOD) and specifications.
• Coordinate effectively with project engineers, project coordinators, engineering coordinators, construction trades, and other team members to ensure that the design reflects the project’s objectives. Revit will include use of Navisworks simultaneously to prevent clashes with other disciplines
• Provide comprehensive 2D/3D drawing packages that are clear, accurate, and follow the site design standards.
• Create detailed electrical plans including conduit routing, cable tray routing electrical panel schedules, and equipment layout.
• Draft One-line Diagrams in AutoCAD showing the site and building power distribution, such as distribution gear, overcurrent protection, feeders, and loads.
• Participate in the development and/or improvement of new and existing products for design change, cost reductions, warranty improvements, and manufacturability. Assist with evaluation of vendors. Conduct field walks and field verifications.
• Provide drawing and drafting support for details, vendor submittals, and perform engineering drafting, drawing review, drawing control, and related services required in the design of engineered systems.

We are looking for a driven and curious Mid-Senior Planner, Scheduler in Los Angeles (LA or Irvine) to support our Western based programs. As a key member of our West support team, you’ll be interacting with engineering and construction to understand and communicate issues and conflicts that impact program schedules. You will also analyze CPM schedules and recommend work-arounds and schedule improvements.

As a Building Mechanical Engineer at Jacobs, you’ll be at the cutting edge of our efforts to bring innovation and excellence to some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the region. You’ll use your exceptional design and analytical skills to lead the planning and design of mechanical (plumbing, HVAC, odor control, and fire protection) systems primarily for municipal facilities for water and wastewater projects, but you’ll also contribute to federal, industrial, and institutional projects.

You’ll prepare design drawings and specifications for submission to clients, as well as provide jurisdictional plan checks and permitting support. Engineered systems you’ll be working with include plumbing systems, HVAC package systems, central plants, air distribution, hydronic systems, odor control systems, and associated controls.

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

• Design complete plumbing systems, including utility and potable water distribution systems, drainage systems, and miscellaneous systems such as compressed air and natural gas.

• Design complete HVAC systems, including package type and central plants.

• Design odor control systems, including vapor and liquid phase treatment technologies.

• Design fire protection systems using a performance system approach.

• Prepare calculations for plumbing systems, including water and drainage flows, water heater sizing, and pump sizing and selection.

• Perform calculations for design, such as air loads, pipe/duct/equipment sizing, ventilation requirements, static pressure, odor removal, life-cycle costs, and energy analyses.

• Select equipment, coordinate with equipment vendors, and edit specifications.

• Conduct field evaluations and develop as-built drawings.

• Develop master plans and perform field investigations.

• Conduct technology alternatives analyses using multi-criteria analysis tools for selecting odor control systems.

• Manage and coordinate work with architects, technicians, and engineers of other disciplines.

• Attend meetings and communicate with clients, vendors, and other project stakeholders to establish project needs and discuss design issues.

• Manage quality and schedule of work and interface with clients.

• Support field staff during construction phase of projects, including responding to submittal reviews and requests for information.

• Provide design guidance and mentorship to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.
