You'll work on infrastructure projects, evaluating and selecting the best treatment approach to solve a client’s challenges, along with planning and designing treatment systems and plant improvements. Jacobs’ South Atlantic water practice has more than 400 high-performing individuals delivering innovative solutions to top-tier clients. The Wastewater Lead role is based in our Atlanta, GA, office and will support projects across Georgia and the Southeast region with opportunities to engage in projects throughout North America and across the globe. You will engage in a variety of project assignments – including many of the largest water infrastructure projects in the Southeast market – and serve our municipal, federal, industrial, and other clients.

Here’s what you’ll do

• Lead the project management and technical delivery of projects through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified requirements stated in the contract.
• Support Jacobs’ One Water initiative, specifically Water Resource Recovery Solutions for the Americas East Region.
• Drive the integration of Digital Water Solutions and Climate Resilience across Jacobs’ Growth & Sales efforts.
• Support the Americas Southeast Geography Water Market growth strategy in the wastewater practice.
• Contribute to the development of a Water Market strategy that delivers leading-edge technology solutions for our clients while actively diversifying and expanding our client base.
• Identify and participate in business development activities that result in the award of new contracts. This typically includes client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, and verbal presentations consistent with established business development processes.
• Attract, develop, and retain top talent by actively coaching/mentoring, sponsoring, and training our people. This includes actively participating in global Communities of Practice to share technical knowledge and lessons learned across offices/regions.

We are looking for someone who can use their vast knowledge of pipelines, pump stations, hydraulic structures, storage reservoirs, and/or valve structures and apply them to today’s challenges. You will have the opportunity to lead and work on studies, system designs, construction support, and other conveyance-related projects. As a seasoned professional serving as a technical resource, the Lead Conveyance Engineer will work both independently and as a key team member – serving as a mentor to younger technical staff. You will support business development by meeting with clients and supporting project proposals. The position requires excellent technical skills combined with an acumen for project management, consulting, and client service.

Recent projects and roles include:

• Design and construction of tunnels and caverns by TBM, drill and blast, and SEM methods.
• Design of microtunnels and EPB TBM tunnels.
• Design and consulting for major upgrade to major US infrastructure projects.
• Engineering support for major tunnel construction projects.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works under supervision of experienced tunnel engineers.
• Maintains effective communications with the engineering team and clients.
• Evaluates and characterizes ground conditions and geotechnical parameters.
• Performs numerical modeling for excavation design and ground behavior predictions.
• Performs calculations to design excavation support and linings and shoring systems.
• Prepares design drawings and assist in specifications preparation.
• Prepares technical reports and presentations to present findings and recommendations.
• Reviews contractor construction submittals.
• Observes and reports on construction activities and ground conditions during construction.
• Performs field investigation as needed by the project.
