You will continue to gain an understanding of all phases of construction document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications, as you help to prepare technical specifications and documents for bidding and construction and while supporting and mentoring under Electrical discipline leads or Quality Control reviewers on various projects. You may participate in project proposals and contribute to solutions to our clients to problems they didn’t even know they had.

During your time with us, you will complete quality audits as well as perform design and delivery coordination with project discipline leads and project managers for interference checking and quality control and develop project/client specific CADD standards, CADD checklist, and drawing production quality control/assurance procedures.

As aP&C Engineer – Transmission, you will closely work with regional and global transmission and studies teams to support and/or lead ongoing projects as well as business development and proposal support with a variety of clients including renewable developers, transmission owner/developers as well as utilities.

The successful candidate shall demonstrate related experience and technical knowledge in the area of protection and control applied to transmission and substations from planning/protection philosophy phase to detailed design studies. Experience with software packages such as ASPEN OneLiner is required. Prior knowledge of protection related to renewable generation interconnection and/or HVDC is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

• Advanced knowledge of various protection relaying functions including line protection, transformer protection, breaker failure, cap bank protection, communication-based schemes, differential protection, etc.
• Perform conceptual planning phase protection and control studies including protection philosophy, basis of design, and fault studies.
• Perform P&C related studies such as protection coordination, PT/CT sizing, TCC curves, relay coordinations etc.
• Familiarity with P&C related standards such as IEEE and NERC.
• Familiarity with ASPEN OneLiner, PSS CAPE, or similar software packages.
• Contribute to the delivery of projects, delivering on time and to budget.
• Work closely with the team members across North America and globally.
• Work with different types of customers including renewable developers, utilities, and ISOs/RTOs.
• Participate in related technical committees such as IEEE or CIGRE.

This role requires extensive technical and practical knowledge of rail vehicle brake systems and components. You’d manage the interface between consultant team and client, and also the interface between the car-builder and the client/consultant team. You’ll provide Engineering support in preparation and oversee the execution of technical specifications for functional, sub system, testing, maintenance and training requirements for rail vehicle procurements or overhauls.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the design and integration of brake systems for high-speed, commuter and intercity, heavy rail, mass transit, and light rail vehicles.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure acceptance of system designs.
• Execute qualification testing and vehicle acceptance testing.
• Coordinate and support vehicle qualification test programs, including procedures, execution, and reporting.
• Review and provide recommendations for brake system overhaul processes to optimize cost savings and efficiency.
• Support procurement and design review processes for new trainsets and vehicle overhauls.
• Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies in rail braking systems.
