Based throughout Western Canada, this position may have the opportunity to be fulltime based on workload or skillset and will begin in the spring. You’ll have the opportunity to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams associated with our Western Canada Offices and projects to contribute directly to the environmental planning, permitting, and construction support efforts of government and privately-owned infrastructure projects. As an, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading field crews for multiple survey scopes, including data collection efforts, managing multi-person crews of various experience and scope, liaising with client field contacts, assisting with the development of methodology, and some technical writing. While field-based wildlife studies will comprise the majority of work, the Intermediate Wildlife Field Biologist could also be required to support other biophysical disciplines as needed.

Your impact

Primary Job Responsibilities

· Working with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets and to exceed our clients’ expectations.

· Work as part of a team being involved in a variety of projects including model build and verification, using existing or new models to understand system performance, and using the model to help the design of system improvements and enhancements to the Wastewater Network ensuring technical excellence and best practice to specification.

· Undertake the development of modelled engineering solutions to mitigate the effects of development, solve sewer flooding, and address unsatisfactory overflows.

· Deliver projects to right quality with the technical guidance and support from senior staff.

· Provide assistance to graduate members of the team on software and basic modelling related queries.

· Plan and review asset and flow surveys and field investigations.

· Plan, programme, co-ordinate and write reports for specific projects.

· Driving health and safety in all aspects of our projects.

· Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues, contractors and client. Asking for support at he right time and raising queries in a timely manner.

· Support the management and Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of robustly defined technical solutions.

As a Senior Aquatic Biologist, you will provide technical leadership and guidance on the aquatic biology and water resource permitting components of our challenging natural resource projects, as well as coordinate, mentor, and support our team of biologists. Based out of British Columbia, this will be a full-time, mostly office-based role. You’ll have the opportunity to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams guiding aquatic environmental planning and permitting efforts for government and privately-owned infrastructure projects. You will provide technical direction and supervision for the duration of these projects, throughout the design, construction, and operations phases with the opportunity to lead the implementation of the work including the development of methodology and the review of deliverables and regulatory applications. In this position you will establish and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, and sub-contractors, and provide insight into business development. This is a science-based role, and the successful candidate will have a reputation in the industry as a technical expert, and a demonstrated ability to defend the technical rigor of the work completed.

Based out of Burnaby or other area in the Lower Mainland or BC Interior, you’ll join our aquatics team and work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams to contribute directly to the baseline environmental planning, permitting, and construction efforts of government and privately-owned infrastructure projects throughout Western Canada. As an Intermediate Aquatics Biologist, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and mentoring field crews for surveys supporting all project phases from permitting, baseline assessments, construction, and post-construction monitoring. T his position will start in the spring with an anticipated 80% of travel for fieldwork and 20% office work. A successful offer will be fulltime or a 12-month contract depending on workload and/or skillset. Contracts have the potential of extension or conversation to fulltime.
