The “” will be based in Columbia, SC, reporting to the Quality Manager supervises and coordinates activities related to the Quality Assurance Inspection function, on the manufacturing floor. Quarantine and disposition of nonconforming goods, while ensuring the policies and processes are followed.


Responsibilities:

  • Assigns employees to maximize quality control goals.
  • Ensures that directed shift staffing levels are maintained.
  • Hires guiders and reviewers for shift.
  • Lead Continues improvement activity
  • Reviews quality reports.
  • Ensures procedures are followed and may develop procedures for the quality assurance inspection operation.
  • Provides immediate supervision and guidance to inspectors, checking work at frequent intervals.
  • Performs process and sub factory audits.
  • Interfaces with HR and finance for employee issues.
  • Research data and puts corrective actions into place.
  • Frequently interacts with outside customers, vendors and functional peer groups at various management levels and serves as a liaison between customer and the division regarding quality issues.
  • Directs daily shift activities.
  • Confers with management and production to define and hold up quality goals.
  • Trains shift guidance to inspectors in quality processes.
  • Holds up engineering and other functionalities in correcting employee errors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or 5 years of experience in engineering in a technology electronics industry or related area.
  • Demonstrates operations, technical and people and/or process skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functionaltechnologies/processes,industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • In charge of developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment.
  • Explores reports and returned products and recommends corrective action.
  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and research of equipment and facilities.
  • Approves product, process and equipment qualifications.
  • Provides liaison to various regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 4 years of experience in quality engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related field.
  • FMEA experience.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Use of the following tools may be required:
  • Electronic Assembly: color code, component, schematics. May require various PCB operations.
  • Testing: oscilloscope, cable and harness testing, trouble shooting, component testing, logic analyzer.
  • Inspection: bare board, systems, components, cable and harness, microscope, measuring tools.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Tools: taps and dies, alignment tools, measuring tools. Office skills: telephones, data entry, office software to include, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation package.
  • Demonstrates operations and technical skills and understanding of Flex’s functional standards.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of functional concepts and a solid understanding of Flex policies and procedures. Typically requires some knowledge of computerized electronic test equipment and programming.
  • Demonstrates advanced functional and technical skills and basic process skills. Demonstrates advanced/thorough knowledge of the function and Flex business.
  • Typically requires skill and troubleshooting, and diagnostics, and overview of the entire test process and the ability to train others.

  • Ensure preventative maintenance of robotic and process support equipment are completed on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Understanding of PLCs
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings.
  • Analyzes engineering test results and implements changes to resolve problems.
  • Collaborate with the automation team in the qualification process of automated systems.
  • Records procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or method

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Typically requires an Associate's degree, military training, equivalent vocational training, or equivalent experience
  • Typically requires 4 years of related experience
  • Electronics experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with SMT and PCBA is preferred but not required
  • IPC and workmanship experience knowledge preferred
  • Serves as an expert/consultant in technical skills with other employees.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of advanced technologies as well as functional techniques and improves processes
