Embedded Software Engineer Responsibilities
- Lead firmware design, architecture, and implementation for key components of Meta Reality Labs custom silicon SoCs.
- Collaborate closely with silicon architects, hardware designers, the OS team, and algorithm and model development teams.
- Support all phases of SoC development, including early architecture requirements definition for custom silicon, firmware architecture, implementation, simulation, FPGA debug, chip bringup and support systems and software teams on algorithm development on validated systems.
- End-to-system firmware development to include power-management, boot loaders, scheduling, RTOS and/or bare-metal implementations.
- Develop OS custom kernel drivers and APIs for hardware accelerators and peripherals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 12 months of experience in the job offered or a computer-related occupation. Requires 12 months of experience involving the following:
- 1. Embedded software design and programming in C/C++ for development, debugging, testing, and performance analysis
- 2. Embedded software development
- 3. Hardware, clock-level issues, bridges, delays, interrupts, clock gating, and polling
- 4. Building software for complex embedded systems or custom SoCs
- 5. Machine learning specialties including deep learning

As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer at Meta, you will take a critical role in developing AR & VR Systems. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through mechanical design, optical modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. Opto-Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
- Drive development of opto-mechanical system requirements for advanced imaging and camera system technologies
- Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
- Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product
- Work with vendors worldwide
- Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience in related engineering positions
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in high-volume consumer electronics product development
- Knowledge of material properties such as plastics, metal, adhesive, glass, PCBA, and flex circuit
- Knowledge and application of GD&T techniques and knowledge of associated metrology approaches
- Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (Stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
- Experience in 3D design modeling (NX, SolidWorks, or Creo) and physical prototyping
- Experience in testing and analysis (FEA, Simulation, Zemax, Ray Tracing, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of opto-mechanical experience for high volume products
- Knowledge of cost effective, miniaturized optics & electrical component packaging, mounting, interfaces, and adhesive bonding
- Knowledge or optics manufacturing techniques (glass lens, plastic lens, coatings, molding)
- Experience in consumer electronics product development and/or manufacturing
- Experience with mass production of systems requiring active optical alignment
- Experience delivering multiple successful consumer products to production from concept inception to shipping product
- Six sigma experience (Green Belt or Black Belt)
