Mechanical Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary on-site technical resource as part of a team of mechanical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical/field application
  • Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local mechanical team and applicable local and global teams
  • Contribute to mechanical safety program for site
  • Plan resource, author or approve work procedures to cover mechanical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational risk
  • Conduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical infrastructure systems and equipment
  • Oversee mechanical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems comply with best practices, including change control processes
  • Author or approve work procedures to cover mechanical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and system risk
  • Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight of construction projects & maintenance activity
  • Lead and/or participate in root cause analysis activities in area of expertise
  • Provide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross functional teams on mechanical equipment, systems, procedures, and changes to include mechanical/fire & life safety/industrial water equipment/systems and procedures
  • Manage vendor relationships for mechanical system maintenance and retrofit work
  • Provide feedback on global mechanical maintenance strategies and global mechanical system design improvements
  • Travel expectations can be significant during the first 1-3 months for initial training and onboarding. After initial onboarding, travel expectations are 10-15%. and then ongoing occasional travel for factory witness tests, collaboration, training, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years relevant mechanical industry experience or mechanical trade level experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 3+ years relevant mechanical industry experience will be considered in lieu of 7+ years mechanical industry experience
  • Experience in critical environments
  • Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings
  • Significant experience in comprehending mechanical plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings
  • Working knowledge of psychrometric charts and refrigeration cycles
  • Theoretical & practical understanding of mechanical equipment & systems, with expertise in mechanical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or construction
  • Working knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure-based work
  • Working knowledge of electrical, control and fire / life safety systems
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in data center industry
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE standards
  • Trade Certification or state license in Mechanical (HVAC)
  • Equipment field service engineering or representative experience

Description:
Lead Building Engineer Responsibilities
  • Oversee the work for a 30MW+ data center to ensure schedule deconfliction, work priority, maintenance compliance, procedural compliance, and team readiness
  • Schedule and supervise vendors/subcontractors during equipment/systems maintenance and service
  • Perform hands-on operations and maintenance which includes all physical and administrative operations tasks, service, and maintenance in accordance with site processes and procedures to ensure the highest levels of uptime, efficiency, and safety without disruption to the business
  • Review all operating procedures, serve as final approval authority on some procedures based on internal standards
  • Support incident management, root cause analysis, and corrective action closure for any operational issues that arise in the data center
  • Achieve and maintain a high-level of technical knowledge regarding data center infrastructure and operations. Successfully complete personnel qualification standards (PQS) training.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of Meta policies and standards and follow standards in all work
  • Provide in-the-field training to Critical Facility Engineers and support the identification of training needs across the team
  • Ensure the accuracy of work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Collaborate with peer LBEs to deconflict work across campus and maintain consistency in operations between buildings
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance as required
  • Regularly inspect equipment, buildings, safety routines and grounds to check or identify any abnormal or unsafe conditions or faults
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate and recommend system upgrades
  • Order parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs through internal tooling
  • Escalate issues to facility management appropriately and timely
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance field
  • Associate's degree in engineering plus 5+ years experience or Bachelor's degree in related field plus 3+ years experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or controls will be considered in lieu of 7+ years experience
  • Proficient with maintenance management programs
  • Proficient with computer systems including documents, spreadsheets, and email
  • Regularly walk job site areas of flat and uneven terrain
  • Work at varying heights and from ladders
  • Use hands and fingers
  • Reach/push/pull with hands/arms/shoulders
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Lift and/or otherwise move 45 pounds or more
  • Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience of a data center or other Critical Environment (pharma, clean room, medical, power production, etc.)
  • Trade Certification or state licensure in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC)
  • Professional affiliations (7x24 exchange, IFMA, Data Center Pulse, etc.)
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments
  • Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings

Facility Support Lead Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and administer the facility operating budget
  • Provide vendor management support including budget execution, routine business reviews, contractor provisioning, financial and invoice management and ensuring work quality meets expectations.
  • Manages a contracted technician workforce whose scope includes rack delivery, set-level and contain of racks, facility maintenance and operational monitoring of the campus thereby ensuring safe operations within agreed upon Service Level Agreements.
  • Provide property management oversight including the quality delivery of data center campus housekeeping, landscaping and site maintenance services.
  • Manage contingent workforce providing oversight and direction on delivering duties assigned to them.
  • Report directly to the Data Center Campus Facility Director (DCCFD) providing oversight and direction on support functions affecting physical infrastructure required throughout the campus.
  • Support and advise the implementation of business and operational standards to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and performance criteria.
  • Liaise with external regulatory agencies, company insurance agents, and third-party consultants
  • Support, consult and advise campus facility team on matters of operational rigor and organizational health
  • Develop, coach and mentor partners and peers and support onboarding programs
  • Develop cross-functional relationships with all onsite teams to improve and enhance operations
  • Develop reports utilizing data and metrics for campus budgets, vendor management and organizational health for local leadership teams.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years experience working in large scale facilities or critical infrastructure management
  • 3+ years experience managing people or contracted services
  • Experience in budget development and management
  • Experience in vendor and contract management
  • Experience communicating and presenting complex material effectively
  • Experience in cross functional, collaborative environments
  • Experience with complex problem identification and resolution techniques including causal analysis.
  • Proven time management, organization, and prioritization skills
