Job Purpose

As a National Service Personnel in the Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS) team, you will play a vital role in assisting the team as they navigate the complexities of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues of the firm’s clients. Your work will involve collaborating with a team to support clients in integrating sustainability into their operations, managing climate-related risks, and complying with evolving regulations. You will contribute to providing insights on sustainability strategies, climate change mitigation, decarbonisation, and sustainability reporting among others. This role requires a keen interest in climate change and sustainability issues, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels.

Key Responsibilities

Carrying out your work in line with a given work-programmes as they relate to:

  • Client Engagement:
    • Support the team in client engagements focused on climate change and sustainability strategies.
    • Assist in developing sustainability assessments, strategies, and action plans.
    • Help support the team in advising clients on climate risk management and sustainability reporting.
  • Sustainability Reporting:
    • Aid the team in developing sustainability reports in line with local and international frameworks (e.g., GRI, TCFD, SASB, ISSB, Bank of Ghana Sustainable Banking Principles and Sector Guidance Notes, Bank of Ghana Climate-Related Financial Risk Directive).
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and reporting standards.
    • Provide support in integrating sustainability metrics into financial and non-financial reporting.
  • Climate Risk Assessment:
    • Assist the team in conducting climate risk assessments, including scenario analysis and climate resilience planning.
    • Help support the team in advising clients on regulatory requirements related to climate change, including disclosures and compliance.
  • Strategy Development:
    • Collaborate with the team to support the development and implementation of sustainability strategies that align with clients' business objectives.
    • Identify opportunities for clients to reduce their environmental impact and improve sustainability performance.
  • Project Management:
    • Assist in managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
    • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to support project delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Engage with a range of stakeholders, including senior management, regulators, investors, and community groups.
    • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and presentations to build capacity on sustainability issues.
  • Research and Analysis:
    • Stay updated on global trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability and climate change.
    • Conduct research on emerging sustainability issues and provide insights to the team and clients.
  • Business Development:
    • Support business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations.
    • Identify new opportunities for service offerings and assist in expanding the firm’s sustainability practice.
  • Additional Skills
    • Keep accurate working papers on work done
    • Timely, bring work related challenges to the attention of your team leader and or manager
    • Undertake all works that will be assigned to you for the purpose of meeting internal and clients’ objectives

Education and Qualifications:

  • Final year university student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in sustainability related fields such as Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Change, Engineering and Geography.
  • Expected CGPA of a Second Class Upper or better.

Experience:

  • No prior work experience is required; however, relevant academic projects in related topics and/or internships in sustainability consulting or climate change advisory will provide evidence of added advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of sustainability frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, TCFD, SASB, ISSB, Bank of Ghana Sustainable Banking Principles and Sector Guidance Notes, Bank of Ghana Climate-Related Financial Risk Directive).
  • Familiarity with climate risk assessment tools and methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and environmental modelling is beneficial.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
