As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role within Data Engineering / Consumer Data Platform, driving huge projects that span the technology and business organizations. You will be accountable for the planning, execution, and delivery of projects from inception to completion, related to an existing data technology product or program. You will proactively manage the end-to-end delivery of engineering work through the organization and all dependent organizations, reporting out progress, ensuring dependencies are covered. You will operate between teams and architectures overseeing the gaps between teams, processes, and systems, while removing all blocking issues leading to a successful delivery. You are comfortable with ambiguity, with a desire to create, iterate and improve.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your technical skills, while defining and driving program initiatives and using your technical knowledge to work with the engineering teams to deliver. You will need to be a smart risk taker, who can deliver big ideas as well as transform them into scalable programs. This position has exposure to senior leaders of the organization, where you will be preparing documentation for senior executives and align roadmaps with organizational objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Orchestrating the work of 3-5 Consumer Data Platform scrum teams so that they deliver business value and execute on their roadmap with discipline and high velocity.
  • Partnering with product owners on the team to ensure the team understands the work the team is accountable for delivering and the value to the organization.
  • Having understanding of what the team must deliver, partner with engineering leads on the team to explore the tradeoffs of various solution options, align on solution architecture and break down the engineering work needed to deliver.
  • Creating believable and achievable plans based on engineering work and dependencies that generate confidence that the team can deliver to committed dates.
  • Orchestrating execution across multiple sprints to successfully ship features on time and under budget looking around the corner for blockers and proactively working with your team, partners and leaders to create visibility and remove them.
  • Being the scrum master leader for your teams. Own Agile planning, standups, demos, retrospectives and the execution of your sprints.
  • Making sure solutions/software built is compliant with agreed SDLC process artifacts and required artifacts are produced and tracked in a timely manner.
  • Keeping technical debt in check and ensuring teams are building using modern practices and tools, driving necessary changes for the entire development community.
  • Cultivating operational excellence within your teams. Insist that your teams provide timely resolution of identified production defects. Understand SLAs and how your systems are performing in relation to them.
  • Operating successfully in ambiguous environments with a high degree of ownership, customer obsession and bias for action while insisting on high standards for yourself and others.
  • Clearly Communicating upward and outward verbally and in writing.
  • Being a continuous learner be it business models, engineering practices or data technology platforms.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (preferably computer science) or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering, data engineering, data analytics, or business intelligence development experience, in addition to 5+ years of project/program management experience working directly with data and analytics technical teams.
  • Very strong experience in planning, estimating and execution using lean-agile techniques. Strong knowledge of Jira and Confluence is required.
  • Good understanding of one or more data and cloud platforms required – Big Data/Hadoop/Spark, Data Warehouse, Data Lakes, Tableau, data ingestion tools like Abnitio and cloud technologies like Snowflake, AWS, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience working with technical management teams.
  • Very strong organizational and coordination skills along with multi-tasking capabilities to get things done in an ambiguous fast paced environment.
  • Ability to motivate and drive collaborative effort to reach challenging goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship building within a diverse, cross-functional team.
