Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and analyzing surveillance alerts and/or reports relating to firm, employee and client trading activity. Properly documenting the review and disposition of the exceptions as well as escalating matters appropriately.
  • Gathering and analyzing trade data to assist in the Firm’s response to inquiries received from governmental and exchange regulatory bodies. Additionally, supporting the compliance group in evaluating surveillance results for potential problems, communicating surveillance findings to management in a clear and concise manner as well as interacting with legal and other compliance personnel.
  • Responding to inquiries or requests from internal partners (e.g. ICRM Assurance, Internal Audit, Legal).
  • Assisting with the design and implementation of new surveillances as well as the refinement of existing ones. Interacting with IT on the specific design and testing of new surveillances.
  • Additional activities including handling telephone hotlines and performing data entry in various systems.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

Education:

The Markets Europe Business Execution role is for a Senior Vice President position and is responsible for driving the overall European Markets Legal Entities and in-country governance and controls activities. These tasks include managing the relevant governance forums representing Citigroup Global Markets Europe (CGME) and Citibank Europe PLC (CEP) Markets business where required, managing internal audits, as well as first line of defence activities and addressing regulatory issues as required. This role will include the oversight of the controls executed by the team members in the region and oversee the implementation and design of new controls. The role will also drive transformation initiatives in the risk & controls space. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the business functions in a seamless and effective manner.

You will report directly into the Europe Markets Governance & Controls Lead.

What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:

  • Manage a robust governance framework for the Europe Markets businesses
  • Oversee the key activities for risk and controls monitoring for the Europe Markets businesses
  • Sponsor and lead process / control automation
  • Represent the team in Senior forums and dedicated working group, and act as a decision-maker as appropriate
  • Ensure that controls and monitoring methods are adequately designed and executed
  • Oversee and manage relevant issues, internal and external audits for resolution and coordination.
  • Support the Europe Markets Business Execution team in the preparation of risk assessments, risk inventory maintenance, control performance monitoring and local control execution.
  • Prepare Senior Management presentations for regular management information requests.
  • Mentor and support more junior members of the team

What we will need from you:

  • This is not an entry level role, so you will need to have extensive experience in a similar role and have an understanding of and interest in Financial Markets
  • Experience in internal audit and/or operational risk is preferable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate globally across diverse groups, with excellent verbal and written communication as well as influencing skills
  • Proficiency in MS 365 applications
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently in a cross-border environment
