About this role:

Cilium Tetragon is a flexible, Kubernetes-aware security tool, with real-time observability and enforcement. Leveraging the power of eBPF, Tetragon offers a low-overhead, in-kernel solution that enhances security posture by monitoring system behaviors such as process executions, system call activities, network activity and file access events for both embedded systems and cloud native environments.

This role is for a Tetragon software engineer primarily with focus on developing the Tetragon agent, enablement for various embedded platforms and cloud environments, and developing Tetragon’s BPF programs that are loaded to detect and prevent malicious activity.

What you’ll do:

• Develop high-quality Go (and eBPF) code for the Tetragon project
• Be a part of the Tetragon, Cilium, and eBPF OSS communities
• Design and implement advanced eBPF-based runtime security mechanisms for embedded, Kubernetes and VM environments.
• Enhance and improve Tetragons network parser capabilities.
• Tackle challenging technical problems
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and contribute to technical documentation

Minimum Qualifications

• Computer Science degree, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in Systems programming
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with embedded, Cloud Native workloads and/or distributed systems
• Experience in Linux system-level programming
• Experience with Network protocol parsing and/or networking infrastructure
• Knowledge about Linux kernel, especially for security and/or networking aspects
• Experience with eBPF

Tetragon security engineers primarily focus on creating and maintaining Tetragon runtime security policies.

Policies can act either as a mitigation to known vulnerabilities or as monitoring and protection against unknown security issues.

• Develop and maintain Tetragon runtime security policies to monitor and protect against attacks
• Monitor vulnerability disclosures (CVEs) and develop Tetragon runtime security policies as mitigation against them.
• Interact with software engineers to improve and enhance the capabilities of Tetragon security policies
• Interact with solution architects and customers as necessary to support and deploy Tetragon security policies in production

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience working on Linux system security (e.g., capabilities, LSMs, etc.)
• 3+ years of experience with security vulnerabilities and their exploitation
• Experience with Linux kernel internals and system software design and implementation
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

• Experience with eBPF (extended Berkeley Packet Filter) and its applications in security.
• Experience with the cloud-native ecosystem (containers, Kubernetes, etc.) and their Linux implementation (e.g., Linux cgroups, namespaces)
• Proven experience with developing and maintaining runtime security policies

You will be responsible for bridging the gap between the traditional SDN solutions towards a Cloud Native approach with Cilium and eBPF, supporting a mix of containerized and VM workloads. You will work with a highly collaborative and skilled team to build solutions that advance the next generation of networking and security in Kubernetes environments.

You will:

• Developing high-quality Go and eBPF code for SDN platforms for demanding enterprise-scale network infrastructures.
• Work on next-generation networking dataplane technologies and highly scalable distributed systems
• Leverage ground-breaking open source technologies such as Cilium, eBPF, and Kubernetes
• Implement automation solutions and APIs to streamline SDN deployment and management.

• Familiarity with enterprise SDN platforms and their integration into hybrid cloud ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience with network protocols (BGP, VXLAN, OSPF, etc.) and security policies.
• Contributions to open-source
• Prior experience working on enterprise-grade SDN products.
• A public track record of open-source code commits is a plus

• Architect and Develop solutions on Red Hat OpenShift
• Collaborate in code reviews, architectural discussions, customer support escalations, and contribute to comprehensive technical documentation.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline operations

• Bachelors Computer Science degree, or related fields
• Proven experience in architecture and delivery, or senior consulting
• Familiarity with Red Hat infrastructure including Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Linux and Virtualization.
• Expertise in operations, including onboarding applications onto the Cloud and implementing CI/CD
• Experience coding with Go or Python programming language

About This Role:

Cisco Isovalent is seeking a skilled and experienced Software Engineer to develop a Go-based control plane within Kubernetes, with a focus on load balancer operations. You will be responsible for building and enhancing a Kubernetes-native control plane to provide seamless management of our eBPF load balancer, enabling scalable, secure, and resilient traffic management in cloud and hybrid enterprise environments. You will work with a highly collaborative and skilled team to build solutions that advance the next generation of networking and security in Kubernetes environments.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and develop a Go-based control plane managing our enterprise-grade load balancer.
• Develop APIs, tools, and custom resources to streamline traffic management, scaling, and failover within Kubernetes environments.
