About the role:

Key Responsibilities:

• Review product requirements documentand understand the customer use case.
• Work with senior software architect to help in designing and drafting software functional specifications for a particular feature.
• Work with senior software development engineers to develop the feature and participate in early unit test and integration test.
• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plansand test cases for Cisco wireless products and solutions.
• Perform functional, regression, performance, and interoperability testingfor Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) products and features.
• Automate use cases using Pythonsor Ruby.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust Automated CICD(Continuous Integration and Continuous Development) framework for wireless platforms (access points, controllers, Cloud based products).
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex wireless networking issues, identifying root causes and driving resolution.
• Collaboratewith development, product management, and support teams to define test requirements and quality metrics.
• Participate in innovative Software test initiatives.
• Share your knowledgeby giving brown-bags, tech talks, and evangelizing engineering standard methodologies.
• Accountable for the stabilityof our product with a high customer focus.
• Work on other quality assurance activities such as reproduce customer issues, scale and performance test, end to end system testing and interop testing.
• Leverage Generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cursor)to improve efficiency, accelerate prototyping, and promote code quality.
• Collaborate with hardware, test, and cloud teams to ensure flawless integrationand performance across the system.
• Contribute to automated validation frameworks and test toolsto support CI/CD and system integration testing.

Required Skills:

• 7+ years of experience in software development and Testing
• Extensive hands-on experience with Wi-Fi standards and protocols(802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), including security (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X)
• Strong networking knowledgeand Cisco switches / routers
• Working experience in core network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, Radius)
• Experience in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Jenkins, Xpresso, Docker, Jira, GitHub, Gerrit, Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience in deploying wireless solutions on cloud platforms(AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), including integration with cloud networking and management services
• Exposure to test process, test tools, test automation framework, CI/CD pipeline and end to end system validation
• Strong programming skillsin Python and C/C++
• Knowledge of software development process and quality assurance process
• Working experience in various OSlike Windows OS, Linux, Android and IOS
• Consistent track record to adopt and use Generative AI tools optimally for development and debugging
• Document test results, file detailed bug reports, and track issue resolution.
• Stay up to date with emerging wireless technologies, standards, and industry best practices

About The Role

The Vulnerability Management Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the security of our systems by managing and mitigating vulnerabilities. Key responsibilities include reviewing vulnerability scanning reports, assessing severity, and triaging vulnerabilities, along with efficiently managing Jira tickets to facilitate timely remediation or mitigation. This role requires utilizing tools such as Vigiles, yocto CVE scanner to conduct vulnerability scanning and analysis, and implementing a risk-based prioritization method for effective management. Leading process optimization efforts by identifying gaps in the vulnerability management workflow and enhancing program efficiency is also essential.

Collaboration with international security organizations as well as engineering teams is necessary to provide guidance on mitigating and remediating vulnerabilities, identify and report automation bugs, and contribute to solutions that reduce manual workload in the vulnerability management lifecycle. The role involves investigating vulnerability alerts, assessing their impact, and calculating severity scores based on attack complexity. Additional duties include maintaining scanning tools, reviewing CVEs for potential risk exceptions, and guiding teams on security best practices and patch management standards. Flexibility to work across different time zones is crucial for effective global collaboration and system security focusing on vulnerability management across Cisco's core platforms including but not limited to

• IOS-XE network operating systems

Qualifications

• 7+ years in vulnerability management or network security with strong focus on Cisco technologies
• Experiences in Cisco IOS-XE architecture, including kernel components and security mechanisms
• In-depth knowledge of common Security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10, CWE Top 25)
• Proficiency with vulnerability scanning tools (Semgrep, blackduck, vigiles, yocto cve scanner) and firmware analysis
• Experience with SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) analysis
• Ability to trace through Linux kernel configuration systems (KCONFIG) and interpret Makefiles
• Strong C programming skills and understanding of conditional code compilation
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) and network analysis tools (Wireshark)
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and multiple time zones
• Consistent track record to ship in a dynamic environment
• Experience using Jira and other Atlassian software
