MinimumQualifications:

  • Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics
  • Familiarity with hand tools and their appropriate usage, including digital multimeters
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, andPowerPoint
  • Able to meet all on-site requirements, including safety and environmental guidelines

Physical Requirements:

This position often requires extensive walking, standing for extended periods of time, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, working at height, lifting up to 35 lbs., the ability to distinguish between colors and working with electricity, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.

Additionally, because this position generally involves working in a clean room, it requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.

This Site Manager position will manage the Business of Field Service Operations (FSO) for our Ireland customer site, based in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.

  • This Field Service manager role will put your highly specialized experience and talent to work at Applied Materials. You may be called upon to anticipate internal or external business challenges, as well as to recommend process and strategy improvements. Your input will help guide organisational strategy, and you will lead your team to achieve key milestones and objectives in this senior role. You will report to the FSO Senior Director / Ireland Country Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage activities for customer site in Ireland, including people management, customer satisfaction, P&L, budget management.
  • Drive a culture of safety and quality by setting clear processes, empowering safety ownership, and ensuring consistent use of systems across onboarding, training, operations, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish a culture of business ownership and growth by expanding Applied market share, supporting BU and system sales, holding weekly cross-functional reviews, and implementing a multi-level engagement model—from site and ops managers to customer and sales—to manage the business as one profitable, end-to-end unit
  • Cultivate a leadership-driven, inclusive organisation by empowering all levels—from techs and CE’s, support functions to management—to think critically, take initiative, and own outcomes. Develop a deep, diverse pipeline of future leaders, foster collaboration, and build strong team leads as the foundation for business growth, engagement, and customer success.
  • Build strong, transparent partnerships with customer Fab leadership, coach Managers, sales and team leads on best practices, and establish the systems, ownership, and alignment needed for successful installs, ramps, and ongoingcollaboration—ensuringApplied is the preferred strategic partner.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and accountability by promoting KPI ownership at all levels, leveraging Power BI and SMART Analytics to boost skills, productivity, and digital transformation toward FY28 goals.
  • Lead site revenue growth and margin improvement by expanding CSA and market share, reducing service costs, and meeting AOP/CMT targets through strategic planning and cross-functional alignment

You’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline
  • 7 – 10 years plus of relevantexperience
  • Extensive and highly regarded expertise in semiconductor or related industry,
  • Experience in strategic planning and business analytics.
  • High level Customer Management experience

We are offering a Fast-Track Graduate Program for Field Service Engineers in Europe, starting in October 2025. Your base location will be Leixlip, Kildare, however you will travel extensively across Europe and Asia for the duration of this program.

The 9-month program is aimed at ambitious new graduates looking for an exciting career in the semiconductor industry.

As a member of the Field Service Engineer Program, you will participate in a blended learning environment where you will receive FSE certification through hands-on equipment training on Applied’s broad portfolio of products. The Field Service Engineer Program promotes a broad, career-growth foundation. Your quick exposure to Applied Materials’ suite of digital tools and technologies, internal operations, customer requirements, and project presentations will prepare you for successful future career growth.

Upon completion of your training, you will be located in either Grenoble (France), Agrate (Italy), Dresden (Germany) or Kildare (Ireland), which are vibrant hubs for the semiconductor industry in Europe.

What you will do on our Field Service Engineer Program:

Field Service Engineers (FSE) are working in state-of-the-art facilities and at customer sites, where they are the face of Applied Materials and an integral part of a vibrant and diverse team. They like to troubleshoot hardware, solve complex problems, and make equipment work better.

  • On-site installation and support of leading-edge customer equipment, performing scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, and upgrading equipment.
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance independently or as part of a team
  • Systematic troubleshooting and fault elimination of the systems.
  • FSEs work across technologies such as: Chemical Vapor Deposition, Atomic Layer deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal, Implant, Metrology, and Inspection.

Our College Graduate Trainee Program includes:

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge transfer, as well as international placements at our newest production sites in Asia and Europe.
