In this individual technical contributor role you will be responsible for:System integration and characterization of state-of-the-art wireless SoC products.You will engage with the first silicon arrives to bringup, integrate, tune and debug the PHY and radio system operation and performance. You will use your understanding of communication theory and radio calibration algorithms to optimize performance and debug issues on the silicon. Your experience using and understanding the test equipment to identify and zero in on issues and your software skills to configure and probe the chip. As an owner of the silicon performance you will be key in making sure Apple products exceed expectations.
  • BS + 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge in existing wireless communication protocols: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, LTE/WCDMA/GSM, or 802.11ad/ay.
  • Understanding communication theory and key Tx/Rx metrics like EVM and sensitivity.
  • Experience bringing up radio calibration algorithms (such as Power Control, IQ imbalance, LO Leakage, TSSI or others).
  • Experience in system bring-up, integration, characterization, and debug of real wireless silicon in a lab.

Wireless technologies have become a crucial part of all Apple devices that delight our customers. With the latest developments in cellular, we apply a sophisticated simulation platform to study the performance of our devices in complicated radio and network conditions and gain insights for system design. In this role, you will be at the center of a silicon design group responsible for physical layer systems for pioneering wireless SoC products, with a focus in wireless system design, modeling, and simulations.
Contribute to simulator configuration management and perform SW releases. Work on simulation framework related topics, such as regression infrastructure development, test coverage analysis, design of automation scripts as well as tool deployment and library integration. Design and implement 4G/5G PHY models for pre-silicon simulation and verification. Perform verification of the PHY models using 3rd Party test tools and test data provided by external network vendors. Contribute to link-level simulator modeling, meaningful metric testing, and framework design. 4G/5G PHY/MAC layer abstraction/modeling, and interfacing with higher layers via external simulators. Design test cases for feature verification, drive feature bring-up, and issue resolution. Collaborate across teams to define/ document project requirements, including model architecture, interfaces, and feature sets and solve integration issues with HW and FW teams.
  • Minimum requirement of BS and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Expert knowledge in Python and C/C++ including the latest C++ standard evolution and professional experience in C/C++ SW development.
  • Strong background in building systems, configuration, and release management.
  • Good understanding of simulator frameworks for link- and system-level simulations as well as FW development.
  • Solid knowledge of wireless communication systems with hands-on experience in 4G/5G PHY FW design, pre-silicon verification and critical metric testing.
  • Working experience in workflow automation for verification and regression testing.
  • Experience in code optimization techniques and efficient code development, including memory and runtime profiling and understanding of C/C++ compiler internals.
  • Experience with Matlab including good understanding of baseband signal processing algorithms.
  • Solid knowledge of current cellular communication standards: 5G (NR) and 4G (LTE).
