Basic Qualifications

- - Proficiency in C/C++ firmware development with constrained resources (MIPS, RAM, FLASH, I/O)
- - Experience with embedded CPU architecture
- - Use of security technologies and protocols
- - Real-time, multi-threaded experience with Linux and/or RTOS
- including external libraries in C applications

And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.A unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team, and gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems. You will be able to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. Issues are escalated to the appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and are able to convey Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) to junior staff. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.You are able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You act as an escalation point for junior technicians. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support.Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rotation and requirement to provide shift coverage during emergencies. This may include responding to after-hours calls, working outside regular business hours, 12-hour shifts, or rotating shifts to ensure operational coverage during critical situations. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.Responsibilities:Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs)
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
Respond to off hour emergency calls per on call rotation for any one of the region’s sites

Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher in IT-related field applicable certifications or/and equivalent professional or military experience. Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications. Experience with CISCO, Juniper and other commodity networking devices
Previous experience working in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment)

You will have the opportunity to provide our internal workforce with infrastructure related support, resolving tickets related to HW (Motherboard, RAM, CPU, GPU, etc) and networking tickets (Link Down, Optics Replacements, Switch Replacements, etc).In addition to hardware and network repair, interns will learn how to install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, and fix complex problems within the data centre space.Duties include:

Basic Qualifications

- To qualify for this programme, you must:
- Be 18 years or over before the start date (September 2026)
- Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the programme until September 2030).
- Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
- Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme
- Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2026 or later
- Have at least 5 GCSEs C grade (grade 4) or above including Maths and English
- Three A levels (or equivalent) at C (grade 4) or above in either Mathematics, IT, Physics, or an Engineering related subject, OR have completed a BTEC level 3 engineering qualification of 180 credits which must include further mathematics

This engineering operations technician position serves as the on-site maintenance technician and operator for an AWS data centre.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
- Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
- Perform limited maintenance tasks to include: filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements
- Provide support to Data Centre Operations technicians
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
- Utilise internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
- Respond to off hour emergency calls per on call rotation for any one of the region’s sites
