We are seeking a Design Engineer with an Electrical Engineering background with hands experience in new product design and development of electrical power distribution equipment such as Low Voltage Switchgear, Power Distribution Cabinets or LV panel boards. If you can design electrical power distribution product/s and equipment, help to test and successfully test the products per latest codes and standards using third party test laboratories then you will be a good fit. You will directly lead product design and development and be a part of the process from concept to implementation. You must be capable of defining equipment specifications and evaluating the merit of design changes. You will be relied on as a subject matter expert in the product design field.Amazon has a global presence. The role will be located in Dublin, Ireland. Travel will be necessary but shouldn’t be more than 30%. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary. Your contribution could consist of leading international projects and could require developing engineering information packages. An understanding of international electrical product design requirements is helpful but not necessary.
Key job responsibilities
* Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design.
• Lead new product design, development and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS datacenters including LV and MV switchgear, power distribution cabinets and panels.
• Develop Capex and Opex spending budgets taking into account development costs with vendors, prototyping needs, testing and specialized tooling requirements.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and components, ensuring tier 2-3 supply chain resiliency.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries through appropriate levels of testing.
• Validate design through prototype, pre-production and first-of-kind builds, conducting DFx and value engineering analysis through each step and updating design and documentation.
• Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
• Ability to provide support for manufacturing activities for the new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
• Be a leader within the product development team as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.

Primary responsibilities of this role:

Basic Qualifications• Significant relevant strategic sourcing experience, to include experience in an indirect procurement function at a multinational corporation with global contracts.

• BS/BA Degree.
• Candidate has to be fluent in both Japanese and English
