As a Data Centre Operational Security Specialist Intern, you will be tasked with driving operational security excellence within our Data Centres. You will write reports, create presentations and communicate with management on the status of physical security operations.As an intern, you will participate in our 12-week internship program in our Data Centres.
Key job responsibilities
• Interface and direct vendors involved in new security construction, repairs, daily security operations and patrols, and planning.
• Extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at hard data.
• Make suggestions on improving electronic surveillance and access controls.
• Direct efforts to educate data centre occupants on false alarm reductions.Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks. This position requires the intern to report to work onsite on a daily basis. Intern schedules are typically day schedules, Monday-Friday. A full time position could involve day, evening, or weekend shifts and on-call rotations.
Work/Life Harmony:
• In pursuit of or holds a Bachelor’s Degree within Security, Risk management, Due Diligence, Criminology/Criminal Justice or other relevant field
• Interest in investigating accidents, thefts, disturbances, and discrepancies.
• Desire to work in a facility observing security gaps in physical barriers, security officer procedure, policies, surveillance equipment, and alarm points.
• Ability to write detailed reports.

Key job responsibilities
To deliver the below responsibilities across SnS and Baby Wishlist:
• Holistically architecting an end-to-end BI solutions, including reporting, analysis & insights. This includes building and harvesting datasets, data pipelines, application of custom logic, data visualization & story-telling to provide greater customer value.
• Creating new reporting to inform business reviews, deep dive analyzer tools, and more emerging strategy efforts
• Improving auditing tools to understand relevant inputs and identify gaps in technology systems to support creation of new capabilities to provide customer value.
• Building insights-oriented visualization tools (Quicksight, Tableau etc) to enhance existing ways to empower the team and partner teams.
• Challenging existing process and work streams with data-driven insights that offer alternatives that are cost neutral, or favorable, but drive much more scalable execution.
• Partnering across the teams as well as the central data team to create an intelligence roadmap that addresses core areas for automation, scale, and business financial productivity.
• Scaling roadmap and solutions across categories by ensuring cross-company impact is measured and supported by stakeholder businesses.
• Influence and develop team members through skills development and management.
• Understanding the value chain within the broader Amazon.com site experience to inform new insights on customer engagement.
• Developing a knowledge repository for SnS data intelligence as part of an evolving center of excellence that can be referred to outside of the SnS business.
• The role has a natural split of WW SnS 75%, and EU Baby Wishlist 25%.
- 7+ years of experience working with large-scale complex datasets
- Strong analytical mindset, ability to decompose business requirements into an analytical plan, and execute the plan to answer those business questions
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, Python, Tableau (or Amazon Quicksight)
- Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud, Redshift, AWS Andes, Glue
- Background (academic or professional) in statistics, programming, and marketing
- Graduate degree in math/statistics, computer science or related field is highly desirable.
