A Typical Day

• Define and drive Pilot product’s strategy and roadmap aligning with company-wide goals and advancing global markets’ growth.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams like Global Markets, Product Marketing, Design, Engineering, Data Scientists, Finance, etc to ensure seamless product delivery and success.
• Manage and mentor a team of Product Managers, fostering a culture of ownership, creativity, and continuous learning.
• Champion local user needs and market trends through customer insights, competitive analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Develop compelling and clear product narratives and requirement document
• Articulate product strategy, proposals, and status to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
• Build alignment across product teams and cross-functional partners (Design, Engineering, Global Markets, Marketing, Finance, Legal, etc).
• Define success metrics and track product performance to inform future iterations and investments.

Your Expertise

• 12+ years of experience in product management, with a successful track record of delivering scalable products and team management.
• Excellent strategic thinking abilities, with demonstrated experience in product strategy, roadmap planning, and stakeholder management
• Thrive in a startup culture: dealing with ambiguity, fast pace, changing needs, and limited resources
• Ability to manage and grow a PM team
• Ability to lead by influence across a diverse team of business experts, designers, engineers, data scientists, finance, legal, etc.
• Ability to build inspiring narratives, prioritize features, evaluate short-term vs. long-term trade-offs, etc.
• Ability to clearly articulate the story for what problem you’re solving for and the vision you’re going after, combined with the capacity to dive into minute details when necessary
• Career experience in the travel industry/eCommerce, building products for international markets, or working for start-ups is highly desirable.

The Community You Will Join

As a Guest Displays & Platforms Staff Engineer, you’ll lead the development and refinement of major subsystems powering the core user journey for Airbnb guests. This includes developing new and refined product features, supporting day-to-day operations, identifying patterns and building systems and patterns to streamline development and increase quality over time, performing and presenting technical & product deep dives to relevant stakeholders, and strategic planning.

At the staff+ level, our engineers are responsible for establishing a technical vision and then delivering a solution that is flexible, always available, efficient, and scales with the needs of the business. Each individual brings their own unique skill set, experiences, thought leadership and technical expertise to solve these technical challenges for Airbnb.

• Design the future state of our technical systems by combining a strategic understanding of our highest level product goals with a deep understanding of our existing systems to inform the right technical and product tradeoffs for both short and long term

• Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures
• Expertise with front-end web development using React or similar javascript-based frameworks
• Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality
• Strong understanding of how deep backend systems are expressed in the UX shown to customers
• End-to-end mentality that transcends team boundaries and helps find globally optimal solutions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across the engineering organization
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, system quality and user experience

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as Product Managers, Experience Designers, and Engineers to design and deliver high-quality products on Android
• Build efficient and reusable mobile components and architect reliable, performant, and scalable mobile solutions
• Identify areas of improvement and drive mobile best practices
• Working closely with iOS and Web engineers on the team to develop foundational, cross platform solutions

• 2+ years of experience in Android product engineering at scale, with a BS/Masters degree
• Expertise building and maintaining high-performance and scalable consumer Android applications, preferably using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Experience with Motion and/or prototyping is a big plus.
• Extensive experience working with GraphQL and REST APIs
• You possess strong product sense and a passion for Android UI and UX product development
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Product Management, Design, and other iOS, Android, and Web Engineers
• Excellent engineering and coding skills. Solid understanding of client networking, performance, caching, client storage solutions, accessibility, and asynchronous programming
• Love collaborating via code reviews and architecture discussions, and are motivated to improve their teammates’ productivit
