Production Planning Analyst

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Production Planning Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Schedules procurement and manufacturing for a specified group of products. Reviews material flow parameters such as order quantity, lot size, make cycle frequency, replenishment interval, and recommends appropriate levels to support the business/customer requirements.
  • Manages raw material and semi-finished inventory buffer quantities. Monitors and reports capacity requirements, special order and stock service levels. Continuously works to improve the planning and scheduling process.
  • Identifies ways to improve customer service, inventory investment, and supply chain efficiency to achieve measurable results; participates in implementation.
  • Lead cross functional projects across the business to effectively drive change in service, cost, and inventory. Develops and maintains operating rhythms to ensure smooth supply chain operations, aligning supply with
  • Identifies and leads projects that improve supply chain speed and inventory investment. Review and reports on project progress with management.
  • Works closely with the business unit to understand customer requirements and forecasts. Works closely with manufacturing to ensure alignment to business requirements by setting and maintaining sufficient inventory levels and lead times.
  • Actively manage working and non-working inventories in assigned businesses to maintain compliance and achieve inventory investment targets.
  • Utilize Supply Chain tools and processes such as SAP, EWM, Power BI. Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve service, inventory turns, and non-working inventory Utilize Supply Chain parameter management tools to optimize planning parameters (safety stock, lot size,EOQ, Loop & Supermarket, lead time demand.
  • Maintains relevant planning master data and supports new product introduction and phase-in phase out material business processes, and associated change management processes.
  • Provides a high degree of planning analysis to support decision making. Publishes and presents service and inventory metrics and results.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience in supply chain, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, production, and/or customer service in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) CPIM certification is preferred. If not
    complete at the time this position is assumed, the certification will become part of the employee
    professional development plan as agreed between management and the employee.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution and/or Planning System (e.g. SAP)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt project experience and/or certification
  • Experience in Lean Scheduling or Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with Microsoft VBA Macros, SQL, MS Cloud Apps (e.g. Teams, SharePoint, Power BI).

Manufacturing Engineer

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Drive understanding of key customer requirements and ensures product testing is done in conformance with specifications.
  • Lead projects to develop processes, procedures, test equipment, and tooling used to produce and test final assembly products, related sub-assemblies and new products.
  • Collaborate with new product development team. Implement new test systems for new product designs or changes in existing designs; determine calibration specifications, functional and /or environmental test requirements and need for test equipment and fixtures.
  • Maintain and execute product verification and validation test procedures, test plans, and automated test stations. Also prepares calibration and test procedures and related documentation.
  • Supports and trouble shoots failures and continuous improvement of existing production test systems and procedures
  • Willingness to be on-call to support off-shift operations

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering and/or Science discipline (completed and verified prior to start)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Strong engineering & technical skills (pressure, flow, fundamental electrical principles, manufacturing test equipment, fixturing, testing software, pneumatic controls, PLC, I/O)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality (capability measurement, process control, six sigma, gauge R&R)
  • Skills include strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Technical skills in layout, validation, new test equipment development, design and release process, root cause analysis, general troubleshooting, Microsoft & data automation skills (SQL, Power APP, VB, Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Grafana, Work Flow, Snowflake), Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt certification

Work location:

  • Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, at the 3M Plant in Monroe, NC, USA.
  • Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
  • Relocation: May be authorized
