As a Project Engineer, you will lead capital engineering projects that support Growth, Cost Reduction, EHS improvement, and Equipment/Facility Renewal. You expectations. You


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years or more of combined experience in engineering project management in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Current, valid Driver’s License.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • PMP Certification or other project management certification from PMI or other accredited institute
  • Experience with structured engineering and project execution, especially FEL and FEED systems
  • Ability to communicate with and influence multiple stakeholders who don't report to you in the organization and often outrank you in job title/ function.
  • Ability to manage project timelines and stakeholder engagement through aggressive follow-up and ownership of assigned projects.
  • Prior experience with web-lines, extrusion, material handling, automation, and/or inspection equipment
  • Prior experience with automation of production equipment in an industrial/ chemical environment

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.

Controls/Systems Engineer

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Plant Controls/Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Increasing machine efficiency and yield through controls and programming projects & providing real-time troubleshooting of controls related issues to improve machine uptime while developing plans to further systems and databases plantwide to improve data availability and push forward technology advancements
  • Mentoring and coaching plant engineering employees in controls and systems issues while identifying, initiating, and leading projects to improve process safety, quality, service, cost, capacity, and productivity through engineering and continuous improvement methods.
  • Improving process capability on manufacturing equipment using a variety of tools which includes standard work, tier reviews, and kaizens.
  • Troubleshooting defects and variation, performing root cause analysis, applying systematic problem-solving techniques, and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Engaging in daily operations to resolve equipment downtime issues, assure quality and productivity, and meet service targets.
  • Creating and maintaining product/process documentation, including specifications, test methods, and change management documentation.
  • Establishing an extensive network of support (laboratory, quality, financial, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to help facilitate completion of assignments while communicating at all levels of the organization to drive direction. Function as a technical resource within immediate work group.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing settingin a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with Allen Bradley, FANUC, HMI Systems
  • Masters degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience within a manufacturing setting with demonstrated strength in engineering.
  • Experience with injection molding processes or equipment.
  • Training and experience in continuous improvement methods, statistics, and designed experiments are beneficial; and Six Sigma are beneficial; Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated capability and knowledge of equipment reliability concepts and methods.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience, teamwork, and communication skills.

  • On-site in Indianapolis, IN

Your Skills and Expertise

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree, Bachelor of Science with quoting experience, or higher degrees (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year ofMicrosoft Office proficiency (Excel, Project, etc)
  • One (1) year ofexperience dealing with customers and vendors directlyin a private, public, government or military environment
  • One (1) year ofexperience with engineering quotations

One or more of the additional qualifications below will help you succeed even further in this role:

  • SAP proficiency (analytical report generation, inventory searches, etc)
  • Experience using Smarteam PDM
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings
  • Experience reading and understanding material specifications
