Your key responsibilities

As a manager in EY’s Upstream Production Operations team, you will:

  • Lead the definition of integrated solutions for onshore production optimization, incorporating technical, digital, and organizational levers
  • Translate field-level operational constraints into scalable solution designs that improve uptime, reduce LOE, and enable performance transparency
  • Partner with client stakeholders across production, operations, and digital to validate use cases and shape transformation roadmaps
  • Act as the solution architect during early stages of pursuits, defining MVP scope, partnering with technology providers, and articulating business value
  • Drive local market engagement with operators, technology vendors, and OEMs to strengthen EY’s brand and uncover new collaboration opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal delivery and capability teams to co-develop toolkits, deployment blueprints, and accelerators for field implementation
  • Support proposal development, alliance activation, and client presentations as the technical voice behind production operations offerings
  • Provide delivery handoff and early oversight to ensure continuity of vision, scope, and stakeholder alignment

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong knowledge of onshore oil and gas production systems, artificial lift methods, surveillance workflows, and field-level execution constraints
  • Ability to think holistically across people, process, data, and technology to design next-generation production operating models
  • Practical understanding of field data systems, edge analytics, and real-time monitoring platforms
  • Familiarity with digital solutions in the onshore space such as autonomous wells, remote ops centers, AI-driven lift optimization, and digital twins
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor technical insights for business and field audiences
  • Client-facing experience in shaping or selling transformation programs in the oil and gas sector
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving client environments

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 6–10 years of experience in upstream oil and gas production operations, with a strong focus on onshore unconventional assets
  • Direct experience working for or with oil and gas operators on production improvement, asset optimization, or digital transformation programs
  • Exposure to cross-functional collaboration across production operations, digital technology, supply chain, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in shaping and defining solutions for operational efficiency or digital enablement

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience engaging with technology providers (e.g., AVEVA, C3.ai, Cognite, SLB, Honeywell) in shaping production optimization or monitoring solutions
  • Consulting experience or involvement in multi-disciplinary transformation projects
  • Familiarity with LOE optimization, ESG-related production constraints (e.g., methane management, flaring), and emissions performance reporting
  • A strong professional network within upstream oil and gas operators or the oilfield technology ecosystem
