Your key responsibilities

As a manager in subsurface data & digital solutions, you will:

  • Lead the solutioning of complex subsurface and drilling data workflows, turning domain challenges into practical, scalable digital architectures
  • Engage directly with clients to validate use cases, define MVP scope, and co-develop transformation roadmaps across exploration, reservoir, and drilling domains
  • Shape and grow partnerships with cloud, data, and application providers to unlock differentiated value
  • Represent EY in the market through technical thought leadership, external forums, and alliance-led initiatives
  • Partner with internal delivery teams to refine solution accelerators, reference architectures, and deployment strategies for subsurface and well operations
  • Provide technical oversight during project mobilization, ensuring alignment on scope, resource planning, and solution integrity

Skills and attributes for success

  • Deep technical expertise in geoscience and drilling data ecosystems (e.g., seismic interpretation, reservoir modeling, well planning workflows)
  • Hands-on experience with key platforms like Petrel, OpenWorks, Techlog, DecisionSpace, and cloud-native environments (including OSDU)
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and DevOps principles
  • Ability to translate domain complexity into compelling technical narratives and solution blueprints for business and technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in shaping pursuits, defining digital solutions, and collaborating across sales and delivery functions
  • Entrepreneurial drive to build new offerings, co-create with partners, and continuously refine EY’s digital point of view

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, geosciences, computer science, or a related technical discipline
  • 6–10 years of experience in upstream oil and gas, particularly within subsurface or drilling domains
  • Experience working for or with major operators or oilfield service companies on data and application modernization
  • Exposure to seismic, well, and reservoir data workflows and integration challenges
  • Proven experience deploying or architecting solutions on OSDU or similar cloud-native platforms
  • Understanding of agile product development, digital twin implementations, or applied AI/ML use cases in exploration or drilling is a plus

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience developing proposals or driving early-stage opportunity shaping for digital transformation engagements
  • A strong professional network in the upstream digital ecosystem
  • Experience contributing to joint pilots or commercial PoCs with cloud and software partners

What we look for
