Provide EHS expertise in the design, development, and deployment of specialized service tools and equipment for Tesla’s global energy service teams
Provide EHS support for unique service cases in the field evolving around our existing fleet of energy products
Collaborate with engineering, technical writing, and training teams to provide vital input on technical documents and training materials. Ensuring service employees fully understand the risks and mitigation strategies associated with battery technologies while adopting regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Certified Service Provider (CSP) program
Apply first principles thinking to problem-solving and process improvement, delivering innovative EHS solutions
Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to standardize decision trees for various fault scenarios, ensuring consistent and efficient problem resolution across operations
Investigate EHS incidents, analyze root causes, and implement preventative actions while promoting Human & Organizational Performance principles. Conduct proactive field observations to ensure compliance, document findings, and recommend improvements to key stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, PE) preferred
5+ years of EHS experience in electrical generation, renewables, or related industries, with a proven track record of supporting engineering teams in fast-paced, high-performance environments.
2+ years of hands-on experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), specializing in arc flash and shock hazard mitigation
Experience with high-voltage safety programs and devices, working with 1200Vdc and higher voltage architectures. Proven ability to implement safety programs compliant with OSHA regulations, combined with in-depth knowledge of Electrical Standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NEC) and hands-on expertise in managing energized equipment in industrial environments
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling global organization by applying a 'first-principles' approach. Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective at engaging with senior leadership, regulators, front-line staff, and third-party partners
Thrives in high stress, hard-to-solve environments with demonstrated capacity to excel in high-pressure environments, adept at managing tight deadlines and providing high-quality EHS support while maintaining agility and adaptability in decision-making
Strong experience in applying government and regulatory EHS regulations across various operational settings, coupled with advanced problem-solving skills, and the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization
