Perform reliability testing for Industrial and Residential energy power converters
Determine component/system level test solutions that optimize for product reliability and durability, DFMEA-based risk mitigations, test team resources, and program schedules
Execute independently Tesla energy product, subsystem, and component-level reliability power cycling tests of switching converters such as new semiconductor technologies, integrated circuits, capacitors, transformers, etc.
Conduct test data analysis, clearly communicate test results, and collaborate with design and reliability engineers to resolve issues detected in testing
Design and implement next generation hardware test systems and setups to facilitate reliable design characterization and accelerated life testing
Procure and develop required test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to enhance creative component and product level reliability testing
Facilitate failure analysis to understand the root cause and drive resolution for failures originating in testing
Continuously drive design risk burndown to ensure product design is reliable and durable
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with design, reliability, and manufacturing engineers to suggest design and/or process improvements and address reliability and durability issues based on understanding of failure root causes
Comply with safety policies and regulations
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience
3-10 years of hands-on experience in power electronics hardware design, design validation, hardware testing, mechanical system reliability, and durability testing
Knowledge of programming in scripting languages for test automation and data analysis/post-processing
Experience specifying sensors for test instrumentation and utilizing data acquisition systems
Experience pro-actively owning and delivering test engineering projects within accelerated validation timelines
Excellent written and verbal communication as well as organization and documentation skills
Experience working safely with high voltage equipment
Proven ability to develop reliability and durability test setups, including environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing, highly preferred
Preferred to have experience of common automotive communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet)
