Take ownership of the approval process for new loans, modifications, risk grades and annual reviews.
Provide thoughtful recommendations to business partners and senior management on transactionsduring the prescreen, structuring, approval-to-pitch process.
Have a strong understanding of third-party reports, construction loan documents, complex structuring and loan negotiation in order to provide expert guidance and sound judgement throughout the loan closing and monitoring process.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the firm's risk management and control policies and guidelines to ensure compliance and support effective decision-making.
Utilize assigned credit authority throughout the loan origination and monitoring phases of assigned portfolio.
Closely monitor the commercial real estate industry and overall economic/business environment in order to identify and elevate potential material issues, risks, and trends in the portfolio to Senior Management.
Collaborate in periodic portfolio deep dives and reviews with Senior Management.
Manage and develop junior Credit Officers and Analysts.
Oversee and drive ad hoc risk-related projects and workflows.
Drive efficiency with existing technical infrastructure through automation while embracing innovative opportunities offered by new technologies.
Collaborate and communicate with external and internal stakeholders
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree required.
8+ years in a similar banking or credit role, with a track record of exceeding performance expectations.
Proven superior skills in commercial real estate transaction structuring, complex finance structures, negotiating, credit analysis, and portfolio managementwith experience synthesizing information, developing recommendations, making decisions, and problem solving
Advanced knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and the commensurate capital and financial markets.
