As a Materials Engineer, you will take responsibility for cross-disciplinary product and material investigations involving internal and external partners. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and reliability partners to analyze failures in materials, components, and systems using advanced analytical techniques and tools. Your expertise in materials science, mechanical, electrical, and polymer mechanics will be essential in identifying root causes and driving corrective actions to enable key product features, performance, and reliability.
- B.S. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or a related engineering field with 3+ years industry experience.
- Experience with failure analysis techniques and investigative methodologies
- Understanding of material characterization techniques (e.g. X-ray CT, SEM, FTIR, XPS, AFM, etc.)
- MS or PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related engineering field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a failure analysis or material development role supporting emerging materials and technologies with a diverse array of projects and timelines.
- Experience with a variety of materials characterization techniques (e.g., X-ray CT, SEM, FTIR, XPS, AFM, etc)
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to collaborate with different teams including engineering, operations, business functions and external vendors, using influencing skills to drive decisions and meet deadlines
- Analytical thinker who is data driven, with a can-do attitude and flexibility to accommodate evolving business needs
- Strong problem resolution, problem solving, and presentation skills
- Ability to articulate complex business and technical situations to a variety of audiences
