Our Electrical Engineering team puts the spark into the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept to production. It takes experts in system architecture definition, design, analysis, prototyping, sourcing & the debugging and validation of layouts or routes to deliver state-of-the-art products for a changing world. We work closely with designers, cross-functional teams within Dell Technologies and suppliers to make sure electronic designs meet a range of requirements, including schedule, feature set, functionality and quality, as well as industry standards.


As a Materials Failure Analysis Engineer, and vital member of our cross-functional engineering team, you will be instrumental in delivering advanced infrastructure solutions for Compute, Storage, AI, High Performance Computing (HPC) and Telco markets. In this hands-on, lab-based role, your primary responsibility will be to perform qualification and failure analysis of hardware components/materials in support of new product development and in-market solutions.
• Perform component/materials research, qualification and failure analysis
• Operate analytical equipment and analyze results
• Prepare Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) lab samples and interpret conformance to internal and industry standards
• Perform root cause analysis, generate reports and collaborate with engineering teams• 8+ years in related role or equivalent skill,
• Comprehensive understanding of various materials (metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, and liquids) and their properties

• Skilled at operating analysis equipment including X-Rays (2D/CT), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer (EDX), X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
• Experience preparing Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) samples using methods such as manual cross-section and dye and pry; background interpreting conformance to industry standards and specifications e.g. IPC-A-600/610
• Proficient at performing root cause analysis, generating reports and collaborating with engineering teams to assess risks and identify corrective actions/design tradeoffs
• Undergraduate or Graduate degree in material science, chemistry, physics, or engineering
