You will:
- Identify and fix underlying hardware, infrastructure, and configuration issues on hosts, storage arrays, network, or SAN (primary responsibility)
- Support remote and local lab teams who do the physical installs (and use our tools) when they encounter issues beyond their expertise.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and replacement of suspect failed components (or, more likely, walk remote lab staff through this process)
- Work with development and QA teams to design/create/re-configure environments to meet their test requirements. Work with platform teams to install and test NPI (new product) hardware.
- Track and document reoccurring issues to assist training other team members and working with Engineering to identify product issues. Perform host installation, configuration, and zoning.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 or more years industry experience.
- At least 2 years of experience as a system administrator/engineer of storage systems. At least 2 years of experience as a system administrator/engineer in windows and Linux environment.
- Experience installing / replacing internal server components.
- Experience troubleshooting and basic layer 1 configuration of ToR Ethernet switches. Able to troubleshoot and modify scripts created by others (Bash or Python)
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies & administration experience with VMware vSphere. Ability to work independently is a must.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience configuring and/or administering SAN storage arrays (Dell EMC preferred). Experience zoning on fiber channel switches (Brocade preferred, command line experience preferred). Experience with automation tools/frameworks is a plus but not required (Ansible preferred)
- Related degree or industry certifications such as, V RHCE, Linux+, etc.
