The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an Engineer in Product Development/OpticsforPersonal Safety Division, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Participating in the development of automatic welding filters for future products.
  • Optimizing the optical and electro-optical properties of automatic welding filters and its components through simulations and practical trials.
  • Monitoring advancements in LCD optics and optical interference coatings.
  • Contributing to efforts aimed at improving manufacturing processes for automatic welding filters.
  • Developing test methods for evaluating the optical and electro-optical properties of automatic welding filters.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

  • University-level studies in Engineering, preferably in Physics or Chemistry.
  • In-depth knowledge of wave theory or optics.
  • Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner.
  • Capability to bring projects to a conclusion.
  • Self-driven with a “can do” attitude and willingness to drive improvements and change.
  • Ability to work with different cultures and cross functional teams.
  • Fluent in English.

Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Previous work experience in optics, preferably in LCD optics or thin film optics.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate on all levels of organization.

Job specifics:

  • Location: Gagnef, Sweden
  • May include up to 10%domestic/internationaltravel
  • Office based (at least 60% on site)
  • Full time 40 hours/week
