Director, Chief of Staff - Enterprise Services Risk

As ato the Senior Leadership Team in Enterprise Services Risk (ES Risk), you will play a critical role in driving strategic priorities, managing day-to-day operations, and serving as a trusted advisor . This role is a critical position supporting senior leadership, enabling leaders to execute strategic work while ensuring operational rigor. You will be accountable for associate experiences, capacity management and other strategic initiatives, and will have the opportunity to work with many diverse areas of the business. General Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership:  Serve as a strategic thought partner for senior leadership and act as a central point of contact between the leadership team and other key partners

  • Problem solving: Understand the organization’s strategy and vision so you can lean in to complex problems and influence as necessary

  • Execution:  Manage Requirements and execute on organizational and strategic initiatives. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently

  • Drive Results: Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. Drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment

  • People Leadership:  Build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. Foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results. Coach and mentor associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One.

  • Partnership:  Work closely with colleagues across Capital One to drive improvement in quality risk management practices and strategic initiatives

  • Executive Communication: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 10 years of People Management experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in project, risk program, Cloud risk management, or process management

  • At least 10 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal and external business clients

  • At least 10 years of experience consulting with senior executives or strategy building

  • At least 4 years of experience working in cross functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Risk Management

  • 11+ years of experience in project or process management, or agile delivery

  • 11+ years of experience managing senior stakeholders across different business functions

  • 11+ years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership audience

  • 11+ years of experience in strategy development, preferably working in financial services or technology

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills, customer focus, and ability to collaborate and influence across teams to deliver

  • Ability to set direction, delegate tasks, manage multiple stakeholder expectations, and coordinate a cross-functional team

  • Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently interact at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines

  • Consulting experience with a Big 4 firm


McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Chief of Staff New York, NY: $246,500 - $281,300 for Director, Chief of Staff Plano, TX: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of Staff Richmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of StaffThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
