Reporting to the
What a typical day looks like:
- Selecting carriers and preparing shipping documents.
- Ensuring import compliance and maintaining record-keeping systems per U.S. Customs requirements.
- Coordinating logistics for international shipments by liaising with internal and external customers, freight forwarders, and customs officers.
- Conducting audits to address potential compliance issues alongside Trade Compliance Coordinators.
- Coding freight invoices and resolving discrepancies, including short-paid invoices.
- Updating the carrier routing guide and notifying relevant departments of compliance issues.
- Filing claims for lost or damaged freight and maintaining claims data.
- Classifying imported items using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensuring all required documentation (FDA, FCC, etc.) is filed.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Manufacturing to clarify issues and ensure adherence to customs guidelines.
- Proactive communication and problem-solving skills to maintain and improve import/export compliance standards.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team
- Typically requires 5+ years experience in trade transportation industry
- Previous experience in international logistics and brokerage.
- Specific knowledge of input and export process of finished goods
- CargoWise experience preferred
