General Partners (GPs) meet their reporting requirements for fund controllership, investment books and records, regulatory, tax, and financial statement. Top-tier GPs and investment managers are increasingly looking to EY to provide operational services for critical functions, in parallel with their current custodians. Join our team in building a new service model and identifying innovative ways for GPs to manage books and records, as well as timely fund financial statements.
Your key responsibilities
- Define and drive the overall team vision to develop a strong culture for a start-up business within a Big Four firm, leading by example.
- Build and foster high performing teaming by inspiring through team vision and career advancement opportunities.
- Drive execution and high-quality work within expected timeframes and budget through oversight of multiple functional teams of managers and senior analysts
- Serve as subject matter resource for the intricacies of private equity and PE Fund-of-Fund investment funds, regulatory and financial statement reporting.
- Establish the strategic and tactical priorities for the team.
- Review team’s work products and provide necessary coaching for improvement.
- Identify and mitigate risks at highest level of escalation and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.
- Partner with leading industry investment managers on how to operationalize innovative product structures.
- Innovate new processes for executing critical accounting activities, including capital calls, valuations, and transaction processing by challenging industry standards.
- Provide thought leadership on business and industry trends relevant to our clients, including the latest regulatory developments, and industry practices for alternative fund structures.

- Mastery of private equity and Fund of Funds investment characteristics and the application of regulatory and financial reporting rules to those investments
- Demonstrated client relationship management and comfort with a client service model, especially with executives and/or C-suite individuals.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Minimum 15 years of work experience related to fund controllership, fund valuation, capital calls and distributions, board reporting and production of audited financial statements.
- People management experience with leading project teams and managing direct reports within an organization.
- Budget management and forecasting experience.
- Experience managing large teams and the ability leverage the team's talents in solving problems.
- Analytical skills, especially an understanding of transaction posting, and investment trial balance debits and credits related to fund controllership, investment books and records and asset management.
- Strong communication skills demonstrated through effective writing and presentations to executive clients and internal stakeholders based on critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in financial statement reporting and analysis.
- Effective leadership, project management, and organizational skills
- An interest in working in an environment which encourages continuous learning, development, and identification of opportunities for improvement of individual and team performance.
- A willingness to work in an office when production activities require but will have the flexibility to work remotely.
- Leadership skills to define flexible work arrangements for the team to enable in-person collaboration, while still having the flexibility to work from home, enabling effective teaming and delivery of quality.
- Experience and desire to redefine ways of working, leading by example, while inspiring your team to buy-in and build their careers.
- A willingness to travel, approximately one trip per quarter domestically or internationally.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- MBA or CFA
- Experience with software tools including document management systems, workflow tools, partnership accounting, investment accounting such as eFront, Investran, or other investment sub-ledger software.
- More than 15 years of relevant experience and experience in an executive level role

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $136,700 to $312,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $164,100 to $355,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
