Lead the development of spray booth and ventilation systems from concept to production, optimizing air filtration and simplifying manufacturing processes
Conduct advanced research on air handling, filtration, and overspray capture/reclaim systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
Perform detailed system analyses using psychometric charts, pressure drop calculations, fan curves, and CFD simulations to optimize airflow patterns
Specify and select filtration and cyclone systems to control particulate matter and maintain air quality
Oversee equipment and process qualification, developing acceptance criteria and using statistical tools (GR&R, SPC, Cp/Cpk) to verify booth performance
Ensure equipment design aligns with DFM, sustainability, and maintainability principles, conducting FMEA, identifying risks, and implementing cost-effective solutions
Manage large-scale projects, including creating timing plans, cost breakdowns, and risk assessments, driving corrective actions, and overseeing installation, commissioning, and executive reporting
What You’ll Bring
Engineering degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or related field with 5+ years in technology-based industries using automated finishing and coating processes, including automotive paint and powder coating
Proven expertise in developing, executing, and interpreting Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize functional and aesthetic coating processes
Strong knowledge of hazard area classification, fire and mechanical codes, air filtration and cyclone systems, pressure drop calculations, and ductwork design
Proficient in 2D/3D CAD software such as Catia, SolidWorks, Inventor, ProE, and AutoCAD, as well as CFD software including Ansys and Autodesk CFD
Skilled in designing mechanical equipment, fixtures, and tooling, interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, and applying PFMEA, automation industry standards, and safety regulations
Proficient with MS Office, Confluence, Jira, Siemens, Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI, and SCADA systems
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply technical knowledge to solve complex challenges, and support the full lifecycle of coating processes from development to production
