Your Day-to-Day:

  • Own concrete outcomes by building and rolling out technical and functional products and features.
  • Ensure all deliverables adhere to the timelines, quality, and performance requirements.
  • Build, nurture, and grow the engineering team to deliver relevant features and capabilities, while helping them grow their career at PayPal.
  • Be constantly involved in the growth of team members and provide regular and constructive feedback and coaching as needed. Handle performance management, hiring and talent development processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to other software engineers.
  • Apply best of class coding and design standards.
  • Identify areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related area.
  • 8+ years of experience in software design, development and architecture.
  • Led a team of at least 8 engineers for more than 3 years.
  • Applied software quality tools and processes successfully for your teams.
  • Delivered projects using agile methodologies.
  • Designed and implemented high-traffic front or backend services.
  • Worked in projects using SQL and NoSQL solutions.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly.
  • You have coached engineers, advocated good coding practices, processed adherence and continuous improvement in these areas.
  • Been in a project requiring you to effectively collaborate with remote teams across geographies and time zones.
  • Preferably worked in a payments or finance-related industry before.
