What You’ll Do

• Support customers in performing phantom calibrations and quality assurance procedures on Nuclear Medicine equipment (e.g., PET/CT, SPECT/CT)

• Collaborate with clinical sites to optimize reconstruction parameters and post-processing workflows to align with physician imaging preferences

• Develop and maintain quality assurance protocols leveraging best practices in phantom testing and calibration for nuclear medicine theranostic imaging

• Act as a technical liaison for theranostic users, guiding implementation of quantitative imaging and dosimetry workflows

• Conduct discovery sessions to assess site readiness, workflow gaps, and areas for optimization

• Facilitate software trials, establish success metrics, and support trial-to-implementation transitions

• Stay current on advancements in Nuclear Medicine imaging, reconstruction algorithms, and theranostic standards through internal collaboration and external engagement
  

What You’ll Need

• PhD in Medical Physics, Nuclear Medicine, or a related field

• 2–3+ years of direct experience with phantom testing, scanner calibration, and quantitative imaging workflows

• Familiarity with theranostic imaging, radiopharmaceutical dosimetry, and image reconstruction techniques

• Strong knowledge of regulatory and QA frameworks in Nuclear Medicine (e.g., ACR, AAPM, NEMA standards)

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with an ability to support diverse clinical teams

• Willingness to travel up to 60% within the U.S. to support customer success
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Board certification or eligibility (e.g., ABR in Medical Physics or equivalent)

• Experience with MIM Software or similar advanced molecular imaging platforms

• Prior involvement in theranostic program development or vendor collaboration

What We Offer

Applied Materials’ is looking to recruit an outstanding engineer to support its computational modeling group. In this role, you will use state-of-the-art simulation tools to simulate the complex multi-physics environment in Applied Materials’ products and work closely with engineers across multiple business units to develop new solutions to difficult problems. You will work closely with design and process engineers to enhance existing products as well as play a key role in the development of next-generation chambers and processes.

Required qualifications:
-PhD inComputer/Mechanical/Aerospace/ChemicalEngineering or related field
-Hands-on experience applying machine learning, statistical analysis, anddesign-of-experimentstechniques to simulation and modeling workflows
-Comfortable working with large-scale datasets and extracting actionable insights
-Proficient in one or more programming languages (e.g., C/C++,MATLAB/Python/etc.)
-Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience with one or more of the following:
- commercial and/or academic plasma simulation tools (e.g., HPEM, Ace+, VizGlow, Comsol, VSim)
- commercial and/or academic multi-physics simulation tools (e.g. Ace+, Ansys, Comsol)
- electromagnetic and magnetostatic simulation tools (e.g., Ansys HFSS, Ansys Maxwell)
- deep understanding of chemical kinetics and fluid dynamics for industrial applications
- hands-on experience with solver and algorithm development
- hands-on experience with UI development

Key Responsibilities

Lead and/or develop, and executes complex system projects. Leads module design and engineering. Takes active part in the design of complex modules / sub-modules. Qualifies complex systems

Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of complex problems. Leads research and analysis results. Supports high level / complex physics related application and system issues in the lab and in the field when required.

Function as specialist for physics/scientists issues, while influencing and utilizing expertise in interfacing with external and internal customers, lead and/or develop and execute system projects, troubleshooting system problems, and defining system specifications and schedules. Reviews and approves system and sub-system requirements and specifications designed by other team members.

Apply principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Participates in product risk management discussions leveraging his / her expertise and knowledge to influence and drive risk management decisions

Provide mentoring for less experiencedphysicist/scientists.

Research new technologies and analyze competition technology. Evaluate new technologies. Plan and execute complex feasibility studies of new technologies and lead the decision making process. Prepare and deliver papers regarding new technologies, share and promote new ideas and capabilities. Plans and executes feasibility studies of complete systems / sub-systems, leveraging new technologies and design concepts. Leads the demonstration of new capabilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Chemistry and materials design for screening and optimization applications with special emphasis on at least one of the following areas: thermal transport, polymer materials formation and viscosity, low and high dielectric materials, work function metals, precursor design for purity of deposition, and selectivity in etch chemistry
• Scope the diverse cutting-edge materials and chemistry discovery tools on the market for potential future value and prioritize what methods warrant further exploration
• Evaluate a variety of MLIP’s for validation required property prediction and potential extend to fine-tuning of MLIP’s for increased accuracy.
• Recommend atomic-scale changes to structure and/or processing conditions to influence observed properties
• Provide parameters, inputs, and/or guidance for higher-level process, feature, and reactor models
• Hypothesize and test mechanisms to determine the root-cause of observed behavior
• Work effectively with external vendor software providers in testing new features and functionality of new products
• Work effectively with internal multi-disciplinary teams of experimentalists, modelers, and computing infrastructure support teams

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have a PhD or Master’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with an availability range between August 2025 – Dec 2025
• Experience or academics with:
  • FirstPrinciples/Ab-initio/DensityFunctional Theory (local orbital and plane wave), Molecular Dynamics, and/or Monte Carlo methods
  • Machine learning interatomic potentials both at the training stage and inference stage. Experience with both universal and focused approaches a plus.
  • Programming (Python, C, Fortran, etc.), scripting (python, Linux), and databases
• Knowledge of informatics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science approaches

Preferred Qualifications:

• Polymer structure creation to property prediction such as viscosity
• Inverse design
• Enumerative atomic structure model prediction (diffusion models and beyond)
• Multi-step reaction network discovery
• Materials and/or chemistry discovery

Responsibilities

• Design, collect data, analyze and compile reports on a variety of difficult process engineering experiments, within safety guidelines
• Perform hardware characterization on a variety of difficult systems, within safety guidelines
• Troubleshoot a variety of complex problems, perform Root Cause Analysis and resolve a variety of difficult process engineering issues
• Generate internal and external documentation for products, presentations and technical reports
• Interact with customers to resolve a variety of difficult process engineering issues/problems with limited supervision
• Measure material and device properties and interpret data
• Identify, select and work with vendors and suppliers with limited supervision
