Your impact

As a Sr. Project Manager in our Transportation Design/Build business, you can expect to:

  • Be responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of design on large, complex alternative delivery projects, including Design-Build and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects.
  • Effectively maintain diverse relationships with the Contractor, Owner Representatives, and various project stakeholders and influencers.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate multi-discipline staff in a high-intensity environment, often involving multi-office execution.
  • Work directly with project controls and scheduling staff to manage the project, analyze Earned Value and Schedule performance, and effectively collaborate with team interfaces to ensure project goals and objectives are met within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
  • Ensure the overall quality and coordination of the work performed, manage client interfaces, utilize staff efficiently, uphold the reputation of the Team and Jacobs, oversee contract management, billing collection, and control project profitability.
  • Establish work plans and multi-disciplinary staffing for each project phase and arrange for the recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Provide training to Staff-level Engineers.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of Project Engineers, Engineers, and Technicians to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
  • Represent Jacobs’ alternative delivery capabilities in assigned locations, markets, and at industry associations.
  • Develop, review, and confirm the financial and project delivery schedule activities of design and construction as they relate to all involved disciplines.
  • Ensure that the project team complies with the contract agreement and exercises strict cost control to implement the approved design within established budget constraints.
  • Lead, interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate project assignments and manage projects that are larger in scope and complexity.
  • Collaborate with other subgroups and interact with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, other consultants, and professional organizations.
  • Attend meetings, make presentations, and respond to questions as required.
  • Work closely with staff in other departments, even if they are not within the same office.

As the

How You'll Contribute:

  • Serve as the point of contact for contractor and client design-build service activities and develop strategies to grow our highway and bridge design-build practice for FDOT
  • Identify, charter, and lead client service teams comprised of multi-disciplinary project managers and regional practice leaders around a common vision of success for growing our highway and bridge design-build practice
  • Facilitate creation of deep, personal, valuable relationships between Jacob’s personnel and contractor and FDOT personnel (management, technical, functional, delivery) to weave a fabric of broad-based relationships between our firm, select contractors, and FDOT
  • Advocate on contractor’s behalf by actively engaging the firm to address contractor needs, and recommend strategic actions to optimize our business development investment and market share growth
  • Identify higher levels of contractor and FDOT engagement for executive sponsors
  • Help coordinate and facilitate the Sales process on major highway and bridge design-build pursuits, actively engaging with project and sales team members to drive the strategic direction and development of key opportunities. This includes:
    • Managing contractor engagement and negotiations
    • Recommending and initiating design-build procurement process enhancements
    • Partnering with the pursuit team on strategy development, acting as a primary conduit for information, and ensuring continuity of strategic messaging and deliverable excellence throughout the procurement
    • Participating in pre-positioning, capture planning, and pursuit reviews on major design-build proposals, interviews, and presentations
    • Lead executive briefings, challenge teams, Go/No-Go reviews, opportunity deep dives, and other senior business leader types of presentation
    • Oversee pursuit budget development and management in alignment with opportunity potential and return on investment objectives
    • Gain understanding of delivery risks, contractor contractual issues, and other legal ramifications
  • Maintain the FDOT design-build pipeline and data integrity in Jacob’s Salesforce platform
  • Secure management commitment and influence/attract key staff for pursuits
  • Work with office/corporate leaders to develop strategies for key hiring on strategic pursuits, identifying key project pursuits, team growth, office growth, profitability, employee development and employee satisfaction
  • Participate in local industry events and community engagement

This is a
hybrid role.Ideally, you will work from a local Jacobs office on average 2 days per week. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Your impact

Your responsibilities will include various sales and business development tasks related to DB strategy development; client relationship management, opportunity tracking, planning, and positioning; market research; contractor engagement; onboarding; and internal and external events. We’ll look to you to bring strong knowledge of the dynamics within FDOT’s business environment, driving factors within their business, and how Jacobs can best serve FDOT’s needs. Though you will be primarily inside sales facing, you will have an active role managing the health of Jacobs’ brand externally and keeping up to date on the competitive landscape to grow our market share.

You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Develop an understanding of Jacobs’ history with FDOT and our Transportation DB business, including past and current pursuits, contracts, service offerings, and performance.
  • Participate in and document go/no-go decisions, capture planning, and positioning activities.
  • Assist FDOT Account Team members with account-related activities, including researching procurement processes and requirements, Consultant Acquisition Plans, competitive landscape, contractor selection and performance, market trends, and updating Salesforce records.
  • Help maintain and update our Transportation DB pipeline, support monthly progress meetings and updates, assist in contractor outreach and partnering, and contribute to growing our Transportation DB portfolio.
  • Lead or support the coordination and preparation of proposals of all sizes and complexity, working with account, operations, technical, and production teams to ensure compliant, compelling documents that increase our chances for selection. This includes:
    • Coordinating, writing, editing, and researching non-technical proposal sections.
    • Planning and developing presentations and interviews.
    • Providing direction to graphic designers, publishing technicians, editors, reprographics specialists, and other support staff.
    • Coordinating with teaming partners and subconsultants.
    • Identifying, communicating, and mitigating potential issues/variances.
    • Supporting debriefs and gathering client feedback on proposals.
  • Thoroughly understand and apply knowledge of Jacobs' identity standards, structure, organization, business approach, sales process, and Transportation DB business.
  • Follow sales procedures, policies, protocols, and best practices, including standard file management and archiving procedures, as well as branding guidelines.

This is aIdeally, you will be based in the Fort Lauderdale vicinity and work in the local Jacobs office on average 2 to 3 days per week. As FDOT is a statewide account, other Florida office locations are also available. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
