In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in two key areas:

Gathering Market Intelligence

  • You will provide thought leadership to identify and engage key community leaders in creating new approaches to pressing community needs.

  • You will be a critical go-to person for community leaders to help solve those needs.

  • You’ll conduct research and market scans to identify, analyze, and vet possible partners across a wide variety of community organizations including social and nonprofit organizations, activists, influencers, small business leaders, policymakers, CDFIs and other funding organizations or in-market financial services providers across the Chicago market and beyond.

  • You’ll create and manage critical relationships with those players to understand how Capital One shows up in our communities relative to how we are supporting community needs and moving the needle on socioeconomic mobility.

  • You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the entire enterprise to monitor and evaluate risks.

Transforming Market Intelligence Into Tangible Impact

  • You will create presentations and reports to bring market insights to CI&I, External Affairs, and other business lines to inform where, how and why Capital One makes market investments that advance its mission.

  • You’ll partner closely with your market team, your peers on our analytics program team, and other business lines to write proposals for new market investments.

  • You’ll manage and evaluate the relationships with the existing portfolio of Chicago community partners and their associated grants. You’ll ensure alignment to the investment strategy and review grant applications.

  • You’ll lead the Chicago Market President Network strategy by being a conduit between executives and community, supporting the sharing of business critical updates and connecting associates to Capital One’s mission.

  • You’ll oversee and deliver reporting for your region to monitor Capital One’s community presence, sentiment, and the extent to which we are mobilizing COF resources (time, talent, dollars) to the place of most compelling community need.

  • You’ll tell the story of Capital One’s Chicago investment strategy.

An ideal candidate is:

  • Impact-driven. You dream big. You desire to make the world a better place, and you get energy from working with others with similar passions to accomplish big, bold goals.

  • Wired for Collaboration and Connection: You thrive in a matrixed organization because you know that together we can do better. You’re obsessed with building and cultivating relationships. You love the chance to share your perspective, to hear the perspectives of others, and to figure out how teams can collaborate.

  • Do-er. You’re biased toward action, you try things and sometimes you fail. You can get around your own roadblocks and you remove obstacles for your team to stay focused on enterprise goals.

  • Intellectually Curious, with a strong Point of View. You ask why, you explore, you’re comfortable with ambiguity, you’re hungry to learn and a seeker of new challenges. You use this curiosity to develop and then refine, and refine, and refine your POVs.
