What You’ll Do:
Discover and identify potential new talent using every resource available including research, attending live shows, and leveraging relationships within the music community
Actively source and build relationships with songwriters, managers, agents, attorneys, labels, agents, etc. and serve as the first point of contact for songwriters
Partner with the research team to collect, prepare, explore a variety of new music data, and construct new methods to draw insights from this data
Aggressively sign new creative talent and keep up-to-date on songwriter progress
Pro-actively create opportunities for studio sessions and pitch songs for placements (market and secure recordings of the SMP catalogue)
Attend live events, songwriter camps, industry conferences, etc. to support current songwriters and to stay up to date on new talent and marketplace trends
Develop and help grow the careers of songwriters
Create/update songwriter pitching materials
Manage and review weekly music schedules, reports and song charts
Contribute to the company’s success on the Billboard Latin charts and relevant platforms
Assist the Creative team as needed and perform other related duties as assigned
Who You Are:
Experience working with publishers and songwriters, with proven ability to create and maintain relationships with artists, managers, producers, songwriters, agents and the like
3 or more years of A&R and/or music publishing experience preferred
Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) and proven internet capabilities
Must be aligned with Sony’s Purpose and Values
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all matters pertaining to the songwriters and the company
Must be highly creative and have a strong business acumen
Strong sense of urgency with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong passion for new music, music discovery and the creative process
Understanding of music publishing and strong knowledge of various music genres and ability to separate and identify what’s commercially viable.
An understanding of current tastes and trends of the market
Demonstrated ability and passion to place songs
You have sound cross-functional collaboration skills, can build relationships internally and instill a sense of solidarity across teams
Able to adapt quickly to a changing environment with minimal disruption
Working knowledge of digital music space and social media
Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required
A highly organized person that pays close attention to the details
Some Travel Required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States
7.5-hour business workday but variations in work volume frequently require extended working hours for evening and late-night events
